Ever wanted an all-in-one printer that can basically do everything you need? You might want to try this Epson Expression Photo XP-8600.

Epson

The Expression Photo XP-8600 is Epson’s most recent consumer-grade photo, which is an all-in-one printer. It is most likely similar in with the Epson Expression Premium XP-7100 with its features and designs. The major difference between the two is that the XP-7100 has only a flatbed scanner and lacks an automatic document feeder (ADF) for copying and scanning multi-page documents. That makes the new Epson less business-friendly and more prone toward photo output than the XP-7100 and AIOs, despite its high-quality text printing. However, this printer is perfectly designed for family and home office use, which is exceptionally well with especially printing photos.

 The Design

The size is roughly 13.5 inches square and 5.6 inches, the Epson Expression Photo XP-8600 is quite condensed as inkjet printers. In spite of the XP-8600’s petite size, the main tray can hold up to 100 sheets of letter-sized plain paper (or 10 envelopes) and another 20 sheets of up to 5 x 7 photo paper in the smaller tray above. Although maxing out at 8.5 x 11 inches, the main tray can still be extended to match several legal-sized pages andallows for longer sizes up to 44 inches.

Like many recent models, XP-8600 uses six included Epson 312 cartridges—cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan, light magenta—providing high-quality prints in as little as 10 seconds. In tests with the unit idle, full-coverage 4 x 6 photos in Fine mode land in the output tray about 30 seconds after hitting the Print button.

The Performance

The XP-8600 printer can be connected to Mac or PC with an optional USB cable. This tiny but incredible printer has a 4.3-inch color touchscreen on the front that makes it super convenient to copy, print, or scan using an SD card or USB thumb drive. The touchscreen is also powerful to get connected for inputting your wireless router’s password.

Its wireless connectivity enables cool options including Siri voice-activated tasks like checking ink levels and printing the last photo you have on your phone and even customize from the free Creative Print mobile app.

The Verdict:

The Expression Photo XP-8600 isn’t the most affordable out there in the market, but the print quality, capacious touchscreen control panel, and wireless features are definitely worth the money.
