Will this small body camera be powerful enough to be everyone’s choice?
Canon has finally announced the New Canon EOS R5 claiming that this is the highest-end mirrorless camera they have made. Following their solid entry into full-frame mirrorless with its predecessor 2018’s EOS R and cheaper EOS RP. The Canon EOS R5 is a pro-level flagship with a price tag of $3,899 with the body only. This will be Canon’s second most expensive camera behind the new 1D X Mark III DSLR.
New Canon EOS R5’s Design
They build the new camera around a 45-megapixel sensor with a native ISO range of 100-51,200 that can record uncropped 8K RAW video at 29.97 fps in 4:2:2 10-bit colour, and uncropped 4K DCI at 59.94 fps. This camera is reportedly mentioned the R5 can shoot continuously at 8K for around 20 minutes at room temperature.
The R5 operates at up to 12 fps with the mechanical shutter and 20 fps with the electronic shutter while shooting still photos. The Canon is also bragging about the R5’s autofocus system, with dual-pixel coverage across almost 100 percent of the AF area and 1,053 zones. The biggest difference from a typical Canon full-frame DSLR is that it will be the electronic viewfinder, though the 120 fps refresh rate and 5.76-million dot resolution should help make it easier for a transition.
The R5 will be available at the end of this month, and there’s a $4,999 kit option that comes with a 24-105mm f/4 lens. Meanwhile, the R6 will be released this August with a $3,599 option that includes that same lens or a $2,899 kit with a 24-105mm f/4-7.1.
The New Canon EOS R5 is to be the game-changing mirrorless camera everyone hoped for and a true hybrid camera that’s just as powerful for video as for stills; it will be a tempting option for everyone from landscape shooters to pro videographers. If the IBIS and image quality performance match its promise, it’ll be a flagship camera that a user would love to have, but with an expensive price tag.
