China’s T-Mobile has just announced its new tool, which is a free service, that would help all its Sprint, T-Mobile, and Metro by T-Mobile customers to block robocalls and identify spam calls. CNET reported that T-Mobile and other carriers have previously charged for the new service. Users can install the Scam Shield app starting by July 24, 2020, providing then an entire suite of service options. The Call Screener app will become a free service for all Sprint customers. Users don’t need to wait longer for T-Mobile Scam Shield’s subset feature, the call-blockings service.
If you’re one of the Metro by T-Mobile or T-Mobile’s users, you can activate this promising protection by dialing #662#. Once it is activated, you can now prevent unwanted calls from ringing your phone by powering up the Scam Block layer. However, the Scam Shield app will only work for those individuals who are paying a monthly bill, it won’t be available for those prepaid customers. T-Mobile didn’t provide the specific devices which are compatible with the service. The Chinese carrier’s website also pointed out that you can disable the service anytime since it will also block some of your important calls.
Aside from T-Mobile’s Spam Shield offered services such as blocking technology and call ID, which are free to all its users, a premium service is also available, but, customers will need to pay for $4 additional monthly charge per line. CNET‘s previous report gave the other details of T-Mobile’s new service, which works through technology in the network.
Free enhanced Caller ID
Spam Shield can verify who’s calling using its new STIR/SHAKEN technology, allowing you to identify if the caller is a person or a verified business. This will give you the ability to accept or decline the incoming calls. This feature is already access for free by T-Mobile postpaid customers with a T-Mobile ONE Plus or Magenta Plus plan, as well as those users who’ve paying monthly to add Caller ID feature to their accounts. Sprint customers, who are paying monthly to enjoy the stand-alone Premium Caller ID feature, will automatically be transferred to free Caller ID.
Free Scam ID and Scam Block
Scam ID feature displays “Scam Likely” to flag the suspicious number that is calling. It can also identify spoofed calls. Users can also prevent incoming calls by activating the scam blocking feature. It works together with Scam ID by blocking the calls categorized as “Scam Likely” before they reach your phone so that you can never see them. These two security features are already made available by T-Mobile to all Metro by T-Mobile prepaid and T-Mobile postpaid customers for free. It will also be free to Sprint users who have been paying $2.99 additional monthly fee for the service.
T-Mobile’s Scam Shield will also provide other features such as “free second number”, allowing customers to keep their personal numbers personal. Free number change service will allow T-mobile customers who are already tired of scam and spam calls to have a fresh new start.
