Are you looking for a camera that fits your budget, but can be compared to the highest-quality DSLR out there? Say no more! These two Nikons we’re about to review are the recently trending cameras that can go the distance. And when we say, ‘go the distance’; its literally, go the distance with its high-zoom quality with perfect sensor size and resolution. The one question we should ask: Which is better between Nikon P900 or Nikon P1000? Here’s the answer.
Detailed comparison review: Nikon P900 vs. P1000
Both P900 and P1000 are camera models from the Japanese multinational company, Nikon. P900 was launched back in 2015, while P1000 was launched in 2018. They are both members of the brand’s Coolpix camera series. So, what’s the difference and similarities among them– that are not launching date related or Coolpix series alike?
Let’s start our review with Nikon Coolpix P900. This camera, despite being five years old now, is still an eye-catching item to grab on Amazon today. It has 16MP – 1/2.3″ CMOS Sensor, 921k dot Electronic viewfinder, 7.0 fps continuous shooting, ISO 100 – 6400 ( expands to 12800), has Optical Image Stabilization, and most importantly, can expand camera zoom from 24 up to 2000 mm F2.8-6.5 Zoom Lens.
In short, its a total package for a DSLR model camera that can be used perfectly for taking shots of places, portraits, or any zooming-worthy areas.
Oh, by the way, the Nikon P900 also has built-in wireless and GPS that will totally help you along with your trekking or animal hunting in the forest.
As said, P1000 was the more latest Nikon camera compared to P900. It has the same 16MP – 1/2.3″ BSI-CMOS Sensor, Optical Image Stabilization, and 7.0 fps continuous shooting, just like the P900.
Though these are great similarities, tons of specifications from both devices are way different from the other. The Nikon P1000 has a higher 2359k dot Electronic viewfinder, more advanced 3840 x 2160 video resolution, much heavy-weight than P900 with 1415g. 146 x 119 x 181 mm; and more than that, it has 3.2″ Fully Articulated Screen, with a higher zoom capacity of 24-3000 mm F2.8-8 Zoom Lens.
Technically speaking, P1000 is the more advanced P900 camera. So does that mean P1000 is better than P900? Not yet exactly.
The important thing
Here’s where the review gets interesting. Since its a clear win for P1000 when it comes to more advanced specs, the most important thing on this review may win back your interest with P900. Which is cheaper: P1000 or P900?
According to Amazon, P1000 ranges prices at $996 up to $1,022 (with TriPod included). For a DSLR camera, that is above the minimum to what we really expect. P900, however, has a much lower price than P1000.
The P900 has a retail price of $600, but can still be purchased for nearly $500 when you buy them from Amazon.
With all the things we compared, here’s our final decision. If you’re looking for a quality camera but a cheaper price, P900 is the best device for you. However, if you want to have an investment and have a budget, P1000 is the guy for you.
