After Microsoft, Apple has reportedly asked about acquiring TikTok.
Apple has shown ‘Serious Interest’ in buying the popular social media platform, TikTok.
According to Dan Primack from Axios, it has been reported that many sources have told him that Apple has expressed interest in acquiring Tiktok. Still, no one from the Apple company has spoken to regarding this matter.
He also stated that it would be an unusual deal for Apple to acquire the cross-platform app, Tiktok, for its political issues in the United States and China.
On Monday, the U.S. President Donald Trump said that he would shut down TikTok in the country unless they can find an American buyer by September 15. Trump has also shown that the U.S. Treasury must receive a “substantial amount of money” from its proposed sale.
Microsoft Is Reported To Purchase TikTok’s U.S. Operations
Aside from Apple showing interest, it has been speculated that Microsoft is one of the biggest potential buyers for TikTok.
A TikTok representative stated, “While we do not comment on rumors or speculation, we are confident in the long-term success of TikTok.”
However, Microsoft declined to comment.
In the U.S., it is still unclear whether the U.S. President Trump has the power to mandate and order a foreign company to sell their state with another U.S. business. This order is said to be the surge to attack TikTok and other Chinese companies, citing security concerns.
Apple has shown ‘Serious Interest’ in TikTok’s Value
Due to government rules, Americans cannot buy stocks on the most sought-after Chinese app. Only people in China could be the ones buying their shares.
But how much does it really cost a business person to buy shares from TikTok? Quora’s survey mentioned that the valuation of TikTok in 2020 would reach $75 billion. This means that if you invest and purchase this app from ByteDance, the amount may also reach billions of dollars.
During President Donald Trump, he clearly implied that he wants nothing related to Chinese companies involving TikTok.
One of his top economic advisers even said that there are huge chances that they could ban the app in the country, in one condition, make way to “operate as an independent American company.”
In this way, the banning will not proceed and they will still have investments from the American community.
TikTok’s Sale Snarled Over Complicated Algorithm – Report
Deal negotiations for the U.S. operations of TikTok have reached a snag on whether part of a contract would include its main algorithm.
The algorithms that decide the videos that served users are part of the secret sauce of the application. These were considered part of the contract negotiations. People familiar with the matter said the Chinese government imposed new limits on the export of artificial intelligence technologies.
