Take your computer gaming to the next level and go on with the Acer Predator Triton 900. Acer’s monstrous Predator gaming laptop provides the world of RGB and sharp-angled design with some exciting (although not always super useful) features.
Build and Design
You will really notice Acer Predator Triton 900’s design even before unboxing is complete. It’s a beast of a laptop, even by the standards of gaming laptops. There are a few things to consider as it’s lying flat on the counter.
First, there is in the center a reasonably large Predator logo. When turned on, the symbol is illuminated in neon-blue. Second, you’ll find the wings of a laptop. The Acer Predator Triton 900 has no traditional hinger between the lid and the mouse. Still, two different hinges can be found on each side of the panel.
The Triton 900 has you covered when it comes to ports. You will see a standard USB 3.1 Type-A port to the left, two 3.5 mm audio ports, and then a USB 2.0 push-to-open port. This port is tucked away by a swinging arm.
Moving to actual specifications, the Triton 900 is not a laptop for playing small or light gaming. There’s a lot more to this unit. This laptop needs extra weight for sturdiness. While weighing 4.13KG, it measures in at 429.3×302.3×23.6 mm. That’s actually a lot of weight. You’re not going to be jumping about doing anything at ease for long periods. That said, it is still thinner and lighter than other units in the same range.
Performance and Battery
As far as the hardware specs are concerned, the Triton 900 has an Intel Core i7-8750H 2.2Ghz Processor, an overclockable Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 GPU, along with 32 GB DDR4 and 1 TB NVMe SSD. Its 2019 version still features the Intel 8th generation Chipset. However, the later versions are equipped 9th-generation CPUs. There are also higher specked models with i9 processors. The specs include an eight-core Core i9-9980HK CPU, which can be overclocked to 5GHz.
And for the overall results, the Acer Predator Triton 900 has all the power you may need under the hood. Of general office usage, there were no latency problems to think of. The device fairs equally well in terms of gaming results, too. Playing at most modern 4K games with default settings is easily capable of frame rates over 100fps. However, things drop quite a bit if the users go into extreme settings for specific titles.
However, the results are not as noteworthy when it comes to battery life. On average, the unit managed just over 90 minutes for the basic browser and video playback tests. Switching it up when playing, the battery life under 60 minutes of game time is much less useful. Needless to say, you do not ever find yourself too far away from a power outlet with the Triton 900.
Acer Predator Triton 900 is indeed a powerful gaming laptop that is more than capable of holding its own. Its distinctive screen brings versatility to how the device is used when you are working, viewing videos, and playing. It’s 4K touchscreen also provides designers with an element of creativity. Still, the laptop lacks the full color and brightness for those who design for a living. This gaming laptop is living up to its purpose. However, the laptop has a fairly high price. That said, to justify its price, it gives where it counts.
