Facebook merges its messaging networks so that users of the mobile app can communicate through all platforms. The goal is to use the technology of Messenger to use Instagram’s chat feature. Instagram users will then communicate with those using Messenger. The direct-messaging personnel of Instagram is already reporting to the Messenger team.
Instagram, Messenger’s new update
You will find an update screen popped up in Instagram‘s mobile app with the notification, “There’s a New Way to Message on Instagram.” Your screen will show the features. These include a “new colorful look for your messages,” more emoji responses, swipe-to-reply, and the main one: “chat with friends who use Facebook.”
Once you hit update, Instagram’s regular DM icon at the top right is replaced with the Messenger logo. Chats are actually more colorful than before on Instagram, with the messages from the sender switching between blue and purple as you scroll. Nonetheless, at the moment at least, Instagram’s announcement to Facebook users is also not possible.
The update will bring together three of the world’s largest messaging networks for the first time. More than 2.6 billion users will communicate across the platform.
Will the update make communicating easier?
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he wants users to connect to each other via Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. The project has caused tension because some people feel that the products can do better if they are not directly associated with the social media platform.
The change has the power to redefine how billions of users use the web to communicate with each other while tightening consumer control on the social media platform. It also underlines how Mr. Zuckerberg exercises his control on units that he once promised to leave alone.
Mr. Zuckerberg also ordered that all apps include end-to-end encryption. It’s a significant step that protects messages from being viewed by anyone other than the conversation participants.
In a statement, Facebook aimed to create the best messaging experiences it could. The social media platform also wanted users to have a fast, easy, and secure messaging feature.
Is it just rebranding?
Mr. Zuckerberg aims to increase Facebook’s value by bringing together the network of the web and make people active within the company’s ecosystem.
Zuckerberg wants to work closely on all the channels. In March, representatives for Facebook, Messenger, Instagram. WhatsApp employees began reporting directly to Zuckerberg, too.
Facebook earlier in August applied its logo to Instagram and WhatsApp as part of a rebranding intended to unify the three devices. Of Instagram and WhatsApp brands, a “From Facebook” logo should be available in all ads.
“Instagram from Facebook” and “WhatsApp from Facebook” will henceforth be the new names. These are displayed first in the App Store and Play Store. The move would put Instagram and WhatsApp into line with Workplace, Portal, and Oculus. Both of which embed the logo into their ads.
The social media giant purchased Instagram in 2012 for $ 1 billion. A couple years back, WhatsApp had lost Facebook $19 billion. All have evolved through Facebook’s tools, and now they need to support the parent firm, the sources told Bloomberg.
