Nikola Tesla. After a couple of years of waiting, Tesla is now finally expanding their operations to Croatia, the actual home country of the renowned inventor that is obviously a huge influence to CEO Elon Musk.
Nikola Tesla, an actual ethnic Serb, Tesla was born all the way in a village located in the Austrian Empire called Smiljan, but it is now located within Croatia. Tesla has previously been talking about taking their expansions into Croatia for a few years now but the whole launch within the country has already been delayed for a couple of times.
Elon Musk to Nikola Tesla’s hometown
Just last year, CEO Elon Musk expressed his seriousness about actually opening a store as well as a service center in the country where the famed inventor hailed from. He even described this act as something that would “do Nikola Tesla proud.”
The Tesla CEO said that he is hoping to open up in Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, and also most of the Eastern Europe some time early next year. Finally, Elon Musk is ready to do Nikola Tesla proud by being able to have his cars rome in the countries of the inventor’s origin.
Currently, Tesla still does not have a retail or even a service presence located in Croatia but there are actually a number of Tesla owners that exist within this country. Although the number of Tesla owners within the country is unknown, the number can be said to be quite significant.
The automaker has finished deploying 8 different Supercharger stations within the country and a lot of buyers actually decided to import their vehicles despite the lack of sales or service support from the company itself.
Things are about to change
Tesla has finally started putting out a job listing in order to hire the right people for both sales and service in the home country of Nikola Tesla himself. The hiring will be for Zagreb, which is known to be the capital of Croatia and also the largest city within the area.
The automaker has put out a job listing noting that the company is preparing for their exciting new entry in the home country of Nikola Tesla himself, Croatia, and that they are on the search and looking to recruit a significant number of different Tesla Advisors to come on board and join the brand new team that will be located in Zagreb.
While currently not that big in the whole automotive market, Croation has beens showing potential by embracing electric vehicles with a good number of groups of EV enthusiasts within the country.
Some time last year, the Tesla owners as well as a number of other EV owners in the home country of Nikola Tesla started a protest against the gasoline car owners that were blocking their charging stations by actually blocking a gas station for a number of minutes.
Croatia is also home to Rimac, another electric hypercar manufacturer that is now partly owned by no other than Porsche.
