Is this new slack change will all the attention they want?
New Slack is surfacing in the tech market, but with a hint of a bit of intrigue and confusion. The company has planned to implement the extra features of Discord-like voice channels, stories, and cross-business DMs for the new Slack channel. The company aims that this informal nature in the pipeline would help employees connect with one another during work. This plan is likely to be executed this later 2020 quarter or early 2021.
New Slack: What to anticipate?
The channel users may expect to have an “asynchronous video” that will let them pin videos to the channels being used for their random communication. The company hopes this feature could stand in for quick meetings and allow managers to share information with ease. It will also have a “push-to-talk” feature or an instant messaging that is a bit similar to Discord’s voice chatting setup. This feature could allow a group that can create permanent voice channels. This would make Slack users communicate without having to type like the usual.
What is Slack Connect?
Slack has been known for being one of the most convenient tools within the organization, which is the only downside the channel has. However, they have been working the Slack Connect, which will be the alternative to an email. This feature will let users DM in realtime with people outside of the organization.
Slack users may not have to worry about privacy, for strangers can’t message them directly on the channel without an invitation link or a QR code. This process is to let users have the option to give their personal information and communicate with them directly without any breaching their privacy.
The Slack Connect will probably be implemented next year, 2021.
They say that if you can’t be down your competitor, befriend them. This is how they started their plan to take on their competitors, Microsoft and Zoom. The competition to dominate in the enterprise has grown aggressive. For the recent months, Microsoft Teams and Zoom have been ruling the crusade in the market, but now Slack decided not to be left behind. This then pushes the unforeseen agreement between these two giants that aims to leverage its wide array of AWS services in the enterprise workspace.
Amazon and Slack have signed a multi-year agreement, where Amazon has to adopt Slack for in-house communication for their AWS teams. This will present more services to the communication plan for developing its footprint in the enterprise workspace. Once done with the rollout to its employees, there’s a big possibility that they would overtake IBM to become Slack’s biggest customer. Amazon is the preferred e-commerce giant, as a cloud service provider, for they foresee the benefit from it as a database and analytics tool.
With Amazon’s help, Slack could get the groundbreaking tool that can be used to compete with Microsoft Groups. And Zoom, which makes use of several cloud suppliers and who also lately partnered with Oracle for added cloud infrastructure. The New Slack will no longer be just a feature.
