Sources online show an upcoming noise cancelling or noise suppression feature to be added to the popular Microsoft Teams this coming November 2020!
Just a few weeks after Google Meets first started to roll out the real-time noise cancellation for the popular G suite customers, one of their competitors decided to get competitive. Microsoft then announced that they will be adding an all improved AI-based noise suppression or noise cancelling feature for Microsoft Teams!
The company’s upcoming noise cancelling and noise suppressing feature
The company has stated that the new noise cancelling technology will be an improvement of the current technology being used and will be able to remove certain unwelcome background noises that usually affect the quality of the voice or video calls.
In an official Microsoft roadmap that was added some time just last week, the company stated that the brand new real-time noise suppression algorithm will be able to automatically remove those unwanted noise that are in the background during meetings and thereby enhancing the complete call-quality according to an article by Beebom.
Microsoft then released a statement regarding the AI-based noise suppression
Microsoft then released a statement trying to explain the whole new technology by saying that AI-based noise suppression is said to work by analyzing a user’s audio feed and also by using some specially trained types of neural networks in order to properly filter out the known noise and also retain only the known speech signal.
The statement continued saying that this is actually an update to the now existing noise suppression algorithm that is already installed. It was stated that users will now be experiencing more control of just how much noise suppression or noise cancellation would they prefer. There will be a “High” setting and it is going to give them the maximum benefit of this known feature.
The company also stated that the known feature will be rolling out to all of the Microsoft Teams users some time in November of 2020, although there is currently no exact date for this feature just yet. According to Microsoft’s official post, the known feature will also be available to certain Android as well as iOS users.
The upcoming upgrade is said to bring better noise suppression
The real-time noise suppression in the known Microsoft Teams was initially rolled out some time in March as part of a major ‘3rd Anniversary Update’ that was able to bring quite a lot of new cool features just like the background blur, the optimization playback for poor connection users, and much more.
According to the company themselves, the feature works by allowing the AI to analyze the user’s own audio feed then proceed to use some specially trained deep neural networks in order to properly filter out the given noise and leaving the speech signals to retain.
Although Microsoft Teams is manufactured by a reliable company, there is still a risk of cyberattacks and hackers being able to join your private meetings. In order to fight against this, it is important to have an Antivirus like Norton or maybe even McAfee installed in your computer just to be safe.
