Within this amazingly high resolution image, the sun seems to have an appearance that resembles much of a jack-o’-lantern. Within their email to Fox News, NASA has been comparing the solar image towards a “massive floating pumpkin in space.”
“Many active regions of the sun in combination have produced an appearance that resembles the face of a jack-o’-lantern on October 8, 2014,” which has been explained by NASA within a post of their own website last Thursday, according to fox5dc.
“These active regions have glowed brighter due to those areas emitting way more light and energy. They have shown to be markers of a very intense and super complex set of magnetic fields that are hovering around the atmosphere of the sun, known as the corona.”
“The image showcased has two sets of wavelengths at 193 and 171 angstroms blended together, which was typically colorized as yellow and gold, just to create the Halloween-like appearance particularly,” added by the space agency.
The measurement of angstrom has been used for the light’s wavelength. “The image has 193 and 171 angstrom light blended. It was the Solar Dynamics Observatory that captured this image,” explained in the post by NASA.
The Solar Probe mission of Parker from NASA to ‘touch the sun’ reveals the star’s secrets.
Earlier within this year, NASA has released an astonishing time-lapse video with the duration of 61 minutes. It shows a time-lapse video of a decade with the life of the sun. The very video has been created by the images that were taken by the Solar Dynamics Observatory of NASA.
The space agency has released the video of the time-lapse so they could mark the 10th year of SDO in space. Within the time of it in space, solar tornadoes have been observed by the SDO, giant waves of plasma right on the solar surface, polar coronal holes, and explosions of magnetism.
The star of Earth will continue to have its secrets revealed. The $1.5 billion Solar Probe mission of Parker from NASA, which has been launched back in 2018, has drawn humanity much closer to the sun more than ever before. The same spacecraft has been assisting scientists in shedding new light onto the star.
Space and everything in it has always been a very interesting topic and study to tackle on. Nobody actually knows if the universe has always been expanding. Nobody also knows if there are more than one universe.
Space has always been interesting because most of everything humanity has discovered has not even reached a fraction, not even 1%. Humanity has not also fully discovered every single element, substance, material, creatures, organisms, and anything else here on earth. Despite that, so much has been discovered and would be very much worth the studying and research.
