With Tesla dominating the market a lot of buzz has been circulating the multi-billion dollar company. Why is it so reliable?
When people say “electric cars” most people automatically think of Tesla. Why is this so? How has a single company become enormously successful that its mere name embodies an entire industry?
Although of course, Tesla is not the only electric vehicle company out there, it is still worth noting that Tesla is definitely the largest. Almost all around the world, Tesla has been expanding its market reach in the name of electric cars.
Why is Tesla so famous?
Some would argue that the reason for Tesla’s popularity is because of its CEO Elon Musk and his eccentric habit of dipping into things and making them successful. Musk already had an impressive track record of building wealth even before he bought himself a seat at Tesla with the money he made from a previous company.
Elon Musk reportedly founded X.com which later on turned into PayPal back in the day and this is where his story to wealth all began. With the sale of X.com or PayPal, Elon Musk was able to take a huge chunk of money and invest it into two companies which he firmly believed in, one is Tesla while the other is SpaceX.
Tesla, under the leadership of Elon Mars, has grown into the worldwide mega-manufacturer and distributor of electric vehicles like their top selling Model S and Model 3. With orders coming in from every stretch of the planet, another meaningful question to ask is how is Tesla able to deal with this sort of manufacturing?
The manufacturing strategy is in the design of the cars
While most cars are built piece by piece coming from other companies, Tesla likes to make the majority of the car itself within its known Gigafactories that produce huge quantities of electric vehicles per day.
With a very uniform design and only a little room for customization and additionals, Tesla units are easier to produce on a massive scale as everything goes straight into assembly after manufacturing the parts. This is the same approach that Elon Musk applied to SpaceX with its rockets manufacturing the majority of them making everything both cheaper and allowing the possibility of scaling production up.
Strategically located gigafactories
Elon Musk is very good at picking out the right locations for the said Tesla Gigafactories. These factories are located where they are able to supply a vast majority of the market within only a couple of hours away. The understanding of logistics has allowed Tesla to fulfill orders faster than some of the other car dealer companies.
Although some places are still suffering from their orders due to being far from the said gigafactories, Tesla has still found a way to pop up new factories every now and then.
Although owning a Tesla can strip away the excitement due to the lack of customization, there are certain accessories that can easily be added like an LED cupholder that sports the company’s logo itself. Oh yeah, there’s also an option to put interior LED lights to make the electric vehicle even more futuristic.
