Minecraft is bidding goodbye to its Java version and saying hello to Microsoft!
Minecraft 2021 will be having an updated version of the game, which means that they will no longer be using the Java version. Mojang just announced that all the Minecraft version will only work with Microsoft account starting next year.
Minecraft is now partially owned by Microsoft since 2014 for $2.5 billion. However, as of the moment, players will still be able to access and enjoy the game using the Minecraft Java version. Currently, there are actually two main Minecraft versions: the Bedrock edition and Java edition. But both versions are not supported after the migration to Microsoft.
During the announcement, Mojang emphasized that the migration reasons are for security. They have highlighted that Microsoft supports additional security features such as two-factor authentication. Other benefits mentioned are the two current Minecraft and Dungeons — are linked to the same account. It also has improved parental controls, and chat and invitation blocking.
They are now pushing users who have users who an account from the years 2010 to 2012 will have to migrate to a Microsoft account to continue and enjoy playing the Java edition of the game.

- Wait and click for the migration announcement to be displayed
- Sign in to an existing Microsoft account or create a new one.
- Set up an Xbox profile (even if there is no Xbox).
- Confirm the migration.

The Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update, although a couple of months away, has still been revealing bits and pieces of information every once in a while regarding what to be expected. Now, the new bits and pieces of information lead to a developer actually reading a particular Wikipedia article to take inspiration on the upcoming amethyst crystals that will be added to the update.
During the beginning of October, the name for the Minecraft 1.17 update which is “Caves and Cliffs” was revealed. The update is said to include brand new mobs just like the Glow Squid, other new cave types like the Mesh caves, and also even a new copper ore.
