Eight years after today, Tesla has already launched several new features on their vehicles. However, the Tesla app is currently ‘not that effective’ on most users. Here are some of the things that are wrong with Tesla app.
How to use Tesla App?
Before we get to the features that are no longer ‘useful’ on Tesla App, let’s first breakdown, everything that you can do with your new Tesla Model 3 and its app.
To help us with this one, here’s the perfect explanation from Youtuber Jack Massey Welsh. His car is under version 2020 4.1.
If there’s one pretty good feature on Tesla app, it is the all-around supercharging features you can access.
For example, you could easily open or close the charging port of your vehicle, using your smartphone. If you don’t like going out of your car, that’s a sweet feature for anyone.
If you’re going on a trip, having a handy feature to find out how many battery you need is also included on the app.
As shown on the image above, drivers only need up to 88% of battery, if you’re going somewhere far.
There are also listed nearby supercharging stations under this icon, just in case you’re looking to charge your Tesla Model 3.
Control music, or aircon, even outside your car
Having a Tesla app is a very helpful device, even you’re not inside or nearby your vehicle.
For example, it’s a chilly night outside, just tap the climate tab and choose how hot or cold temperature your car is, once you enter the car.
You could also change the music you’re listening, with the tap from your phone.
Open or close car
This is probably the most convenient feature on the Tesla app– that is quite necessary for anyone.
Tesla app, for one, can make your Tesla car– start engine, open or close trunk, open or close vehicle– just by using your app.
Is Tesla app, a good use or not?
Though Tesla is pretty handy for those owners of the electric vehicle, currently, the app is not that effective for some users.
As we checked on Tesla app reviews, here are some of the things went wrong on the app.
Vehicle connection error
Most of the Apple App Store reviews we’ve seen is how the app does not connect instantly and easily with the vehicle.
“This app is very unreliable connecting to my vehicle, whether it is on WiFi or cellular. I frequently get “Waking up” messages where I have to wait minutes watching a spinning arrow for it to connect or in about 1/3 of the time results in a “Vehicle Connection Error,”” says one user.
Another user says, “since the last update, it has been taking an annoyingly long time to connect to my car. Personal record is 27min. Sometimes it doesn’t even connect and gives up.”
App can’t cool down or heat car
As said, the app could make your vehicle cool down or heat up. Unfortunately, to some users, this isn’t functional anymore.
“The car is not obeying what I set in the app, no matter when I try to preheat it, and hasn’t followed what I set in the app for heating (car, steering wheel, seat) since the past few software updates,” says one user.
Here are other concerns on the app:
- Missing notifications
- Not functioning solar or powerwall charging
- No recent data available
As of now, Tesla has not yet fixed some of these issues on the app. Maybe, let’s wait until the end of the year.
