Gigabyte Aorus 5 Review: Reasons to and Not to Buy This Laptop

If you are a student searching for a laptop to substitute a desktop when on a budget, Asus Vivobook 15 will be the first thing that falls to your mind. But here comes its opponent. The Gigabyte Aorus 5 is one of the best laptops you can purchase that can accommodate all your schoolwork when enjoying the new high-set PC games as well.

For a laptop, a wall socket is all you have to keep close to. The said device has high-end hardware and requires a lot of electricity to hold it working at its full capacity. In a more literal way than making most gaming laptops a desktop substitute, calling the notebook a replacement for a desktop is.

What is the Aorus 5 Gigabyte like?

This Gigabyte laptop has several capabilities as well as a great power potential, which maintains its budget low enough to make it accessible for students. But the laptop needs to make many compromises.

The Gigabyte Aorus 5 boasts an Intel Comet Lake i7 cpu, NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 512 GB SSD, and 16 GB DDR4 RAM. The specifications indicate that without struggling, even with its 144 Hz FHD monitor, the laptop will be able to support almost any game.

The laptop’s greatest con is its battery life. You’ll need to stick connected to a wall socket to have the laptop plugged in if you’re looking to enjoy any of the new games on your sofa or in bed. A fully-charged battery can last an hour and a half while the laptop is operating in output mode. However, if you operate it on battery saver mode when you do schoolwork, the laptop will run for a couple more hours.

There’s a Gigabyte Aorus 5 edition that has ray-tracing, so if you’re going to buy that model, it will cost an extra few hundred bucks. However the price rise could make the laptop not so affordable for students. But it would be best if you didn’t opt for ray-tracing.

Reasons for buying this laptop

You want to save cash, but you want a strong laptop

An inexpensive gaming laptop would need to cut certain corners to save on prices, but the value the laptop delivers is not one of the cut corners.

You want a high refresh rate monitor

You’re not going to get a 4K resolution monitor, but you’re going to get one with a 144Hz refresh rate. The high refresh rate offers clear and crisp graphics that can render it seem seamless on-screen.

You need a laptop that looks mature and does not reveal that it is for gamers

Many high-performance gaming machines and tablets are typically as flashy as a bar, which will be a concern if you took the laptop around for schoolwork. As the Gigabyte Aorus 5 looks easy and humble, there is no need to fear.

Reasons not to buy this device

You want a laptop that can cope with damage

Aside from the cables and ports, the laptop has no metal in its chassis, so you do not anticipate the laptop to withstand any hits or declines without being harmed.

You need a laptop that is light and compact

Don’t purchase the Gigabyte Aorus 5  if you are searching for a laptop that you can bring in your backpack without feeling the weight. It’s heavy and if you want to fly with it, you’ll fail while rushing to bring it to an outlet to charge it.

You don’t want to have it all the time plugged in

If you require a laptop that can last you an entire day a gaming laptop is not what you’re searching for. If you’re gaming, the Gigabyte Aorus 5 is particularly hungry for the battery, so while you have this laptop, you’ll always need to be prepared to locate a wall socket.
