Apple officially unveiled the first AirPods branded over-ear headphones, the AirPods Max. This latest product has all the best that other products in the AirPods series have to offer and introduces a few interesting technologies designed to provide the ultimate personal listening experience for users.
The new audio accessory, which costs more than the iPhone SE, features incredible high-fidelity audio, Adaptive EQ, Active Noise Cancellation, and spatial audio, per the Cupertino-based tech giant. These are paired with a custom design, the “magic” and long battery life of the AirPods.
Here’s a quick look at the features of the new accessory.
The AirPods Max comes with a unique design that is retro-inspired and futuristic. Its mesh canopy uniformly distributes weight. It has arms with telescopic headbands. A mechanism is attached to the anodized aluminum earcups that allows them to rotate to the contour of the head and ears of the user.
To provide warmth, Apple used specially engineered mesh on the ear cushions. To establish a soft seal, the ear cushions themselves have’ acoustically engineered’ memory foam. One of the earcups features a Digital Crown for volume, replay, call and Siri power.
Apple said the computer is fitted with 40mm dynamic drivers developed by Apple. For less distortion, it also has a “unique” dual neodymium ring magnet motor.
Each earcup also has an H1 chip in the AirPods Max, each with 10 audio cores to generate high-fidelity audio. To ensure great-quality performance, it also uses machine audio tools.
The AirPods Max can change the audio quality on the fly depending on the ear cushions’ fit and seal. This is intended to ensure rich detail.
Cancellation/Transparency mode of Active Noise
To track ambient noise and the sound the consumer hears, the unit has four microphones: three outward-facing and one inward-facing. It then uses this data to change the cancellation of noise, enabling users to enjoy their music.
Transparency mode is also featured on the AirPods Max, enabling users to automatically hear outside noise when their music is being played. Users will use the noise reduction button to switch between the two.
To change the audio in real-time, the AirPods Max makes use of dynamic head tracking. This allows people, regardless of their actual physical location, to hear audio from where the system is located.
The AirPods Max has the same simple pairing features as the AirPods and AirPods Pro, Apple said. It can turn very quickly from an iPhone to an iPad or a Mac as well.
On a single charge, the system is rated to last up to 20 hours, even with ANC and spatial audio allowed. The AirPods Max comes with a smart case that places it in an ultra-low-power condition while not in use to protect the battery.
Now here’s the catch: an eye-watering $549 expense for the AirPods Max. This is way more costly than the iPhone SE 2020, which starts at $399. It’s far more pricey than the WH-1000XM4 from Sony and the 700 Noise Canceling Headphones from Bose. It is so costly that its price tag has been ridiculed by some.
That said, Apple fans who do not mind the cost can get it through Apple.com in silver, space gray, sky blue, pink and green.
