Such a pleasant start for Apple’s production, this coming 2021!
Apple’s iPhone orders have drastically increased as it was speculated that the company asked their suppliers to produce up to 96 million iPhones for the first half of next year, 2021. This means that the company gained a 30% year-on-year increase, following a late surge in demand for the newly released iPhone 12 due to the pandemic.
The orders have said to be consisted of iPhone 12 series and the older iPhone 11 and iPhone SE. According to Nikkei Asia, the industry wide shortages of key components could make the target unrealistic.
Apple’s iPhone Orders Increase Speculations:
The tentative full-year forecast that Apple shared with its suppliers suggests it plans to build up to 230 million iPhones in 2021, including both old and new models, the people said. This would mark a 20% rise from 2019, though the target will be regularly reviewed and revised in response to any changes in consumer demand, they added.
“The planned production for the next quarter and the following quarter have been decided and the outlook is quite bright,” an executive at a key Apple supplier told Nikkei. “The iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max are especially stronger than we estimated, while the demand for iPhone 12 is in line with the forecast, but iPhone 12 mini is a bit sluggish,” the person added.
“We are a bit conservative about its next new iPhone lineup which is set to be released in the second half of 2021,” Pu said. “We don’t see the excitement for the new model in 2021 after its first 5G iPhone lineup this year,” he added.
Apple continues to offer the earlier four iPhone models next year without changes. This means that users can expect a 6.1-inch low-cost iPhone, a 5.4-inch iPhone mini, a 6.1-inch Pro model, and a 6.7-inch Pro Max model. However, the newly released 2020 iPhones will have major improvements, a new 5G chip made by Qualcomm, and a faster A-series processor.
iPhone 11: The Most In-Demand Smartphone This 2020
Apple’s iPhone 11 sales have skyrocketed for the first quarter of 2020. It reportedly had about 37.7 million sold units this year. It is said that what drove this to success is its pricing strategy, making it $50 cheaper than the iPhone XR. It is also important to note that the iPhone 11 has more firm hardware components than its predecessors.
There are several iPhones that have made it to the list. One of which is the iPhone SE 2020 which is in the 5th place and has sold 8.7 million units abroad. This then followed by the iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Based on the data shown, the shipments of iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max declined compared to the iPhone XS last 2019. However, their rankings improved, and both models achieved positive results especially on iPhone Orders.
