Netatmo has made an official statement saying that their Smart Video Doorbell equipped with HomeKit support is now available for pre-order in the United States and Canada to be delivered starting January 6, 2021. Previously, this smart accessory was only available in Europe, but the company managed to expand the availability beyond Europe.
Miller of 9to5mac said that the decision to expand availability comes two weeks after their competitor, Logitech, announced the release of their first smart doorbell supported with HomeKit Secure Video. The Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell is already available to be ordered.
Excellent video quality and weatherproof
According to their official website, the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell is equipped with a full HD 1080p camera that offers the finest video quality. Its High Dynamic Range HDR function adjust itself to sudden changes in brightness. Providing all-day long protection with infrared night vision so everything can be clearly seen even when it is in total darkness.
With the lens covering a 140-degree wide-angle. Clear enough to see who is visiting all-day long.
The Smart Video Doorbell is fully resistant to any weather conditions. With HZO technology, coated with a thin-film solution, it is protected against snow, rain, heat, dirt and dust. With IP44 ratings that guarantees genuinely waterproof.
Notification sent to owner’s smartphone
It has a feature that when the button is pressed, notification will be automatically sent to the owner’s smartphone. So, even if the owner is away from home it is possible to see and speak to the visitors.
It is like receiving a video call on the smartphone when the push button is pressed. The owner can choose to either communicate or not with the visitors.
No additional charge for all the features
No hidden costs aside from the purchase of the unit. All features, with the recorded videos and call history, can be accessed at all times without subscription, therefore, with no additional charge. The accessory comes with an internal 8GB microSD card for storage where videos and call history are saved. The saved videos can be automatically transferred and saved in the owner’s Dropbox account or personal FTP server.
To ensure the security of the stored files to be at max, the microSD card has been encrypted. The Smart Video Doorbell uses end-to-end encryption in order for the data to be transmitted to the owner’s smartphone and for it to be secured.
Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell with HomeKit support
As of the present, the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell is only supported by HomeKit features and not yet the HomeKit Secure Video like that of its competitor, it being Logitech. But the company promises that the HomeKit Secure Video features will soon come in along with future upgrades.
The Netatmo website already accepts orders for the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell with HomeKit support. Delivery will start on the month of January 6 in the year 2021. Also, it will eventually be available for purchase on Amazon.
