Are you having problems with your iPhone’s storage system? Commonly, Apple smartphones have enough storage to take pictures, save movies, or listen to music or podcast.
However, most of the time we might see a message saying, “Storage almost full.” Whether you’re taking a picture, or just saving a document for your presentation; you might already experience this problem with your iPhone.
When this happens, what’s the first thing you should do?
iPhone memory full?
Solving the problem of iPhone memory full is no rocket science. It’s easy to fix, and no longer requires you to go to the nearest Apple store for it to get fixed.
iPhone users must remember that ‘storage full’ can mean that you don’t have enough memory, or either some apps possibly get your storage, without you knowing.
Here are the four hacks to do to fix your iPhone’s memory full message:
Clear app or browser caches
In any smartphone or device out there, clearing your phone’s cache is a handy tool to save memory, or make your processor faster.
Apps like Facebook or any social media apps are normally the reason why most devices don’t have enough memory, all the time.
These apps can eat your memory, without you knowing. One way to stop this from happening is to clear app or browser caches of your device.
How to clear browser cache on an iPhone
- Go to Settings
- Find Safari
- Tap the “Clear History and Website Data”
How to clear app cache on an iPhone
Unfortunately, some app cache on iPhone cannot be deleted, unlike on browser. If you still want to do it, better delete the app first (like Facebook), then reinstalled it to delete all unnecessary files on your device.
Which app gets your storage
Aside from cache, third-party apps on an iPhone also save unnecessary memory storage to the device.
To know which app gets your storage the most, here are the step-by-step things to do:
- Go to Settings
- Find General
- Open Storage and iCloud Usage
- Tap ‘Manage Storage’
After clicking this, you will see all apps that consume memory the most. To delete these files, tap “Delete Documents and Data.”
Or better yet, delete the app itself.
Delete ‘old messages’
We know that reminiscing about old phone messages can be fun and heart-warming. But, it’s no longer fun when these messages took most of your memory storage.
To delete old messages from your iPhone:
- Go to Settings
- Head to Messages
- Click Message History
- Tap Keep Messages
- Choose the timeframe of messages you’d like to keep (30 days, 1 year, or forever)
Delete ‘unused apps’
This one is kind of obvious whenever anyone’s having problems with memory storage with any device.
If you have an app on your iPhone that you rarely use, it’s better to delete them right away to save you some storage.
Sometimes, the unused apps control at least 1GB of your iPhone’s storage. To delete apps, just simply hold the tap until apps start jiggling, press the ‘X’ in the upper left-hand corner.
