Lenovo finally released its first-ever ThinkPad detachable, together with its ThinkReality A3 smart glasses. These products were introduced in CES 2021, which is still an ongoing event.

Lenovo claims it is one of the most versatile and advanced smart glasses. The new wearable device is aimed to transform work across all levels.

Lenovo explained that it can do this through 3D visualization and virtual displays. Kevin Beck, the Lenovo senior story technologist, explained that the new smart glasses are a part of a total strategy of bringing comprehensive digital solutions.

The tech giant Chinese company added that the new plan will bring solutions to help with that intelligent transformation. Different businesses and companies also told Lenovo that they are working so hard to achieve it.

Beck added that businesses told Lenovo that they are looking for a new technology that they want to collaborate more intelligently. A new device that could be used in the new normal of hybrid work models and distributed workforces.

The new ThinkReality A3’s glasses come in two models. These are the industrial edition and the PC edition. Both versions enable users to wear prescription lenses while using the new smart device.

ThinkReality A3’s specs

Lenovo explained that its new smart gadget can be used for different applications. These include augmented reality and 3D visualization guided workflows.

The new device could really be useful since many companies and businesses are looking to adopt new technologies for smart collaboration. ThinkReality A3 is very different from the previous A6 model, which looks like a common mixed reality headset.

Unlike the previous version, the new smart glasses can fit like a pair of sunglasses. Lenovo said that companies can modify the new technology using the offered industrial frame options. Doing this would make the product safer and more durable.

The Chinese manufacturer’s new device has the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 SoC for virtual and mixed reality headsets. It also has an 8-megapixel camera that provides 1080p video.

The new smart glasses can also display up to five virtual 1080p videos. Another great feature is its dual fish-eye cameras. These lenses allow the wearable gadget to have room-scale tracking.

Before using the new product, you must remember that it needs to be connected to either a Motorola smartphone or a PC. If you’re using the Motorola device, it needs to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series chipset. On the other hand, you need to connect it via USB-C if you are using a laptop or PC.

The device’s PC edition uses Windows software tools and applications. On the other hand, the Motorola ThinkReality A3 version or the Industrial Edition provides hands-free AR tasks.

Lenovo envisions various applications for the headset across industries and believes it can be used wherever space and privacy are limited. The company claimed that the new gadget can be used in retail locations, factories, laboratories, and hospital spaces.

This means that the company still hasn’t released the product for regular consumers’ use. The new gadget is only available for enterprises as of the moment.
