Is this a sign of a new start with TikTok’s security now?
Tiktok’s privacy setting has changed to better protect younger users by restricting certain features. Younger users won’t be able to access some features as the default settings are automatically restricted unless you are 18 years old or above.
TikTok’s Privacy Settings Changes:
The biggest transition restricts users ages 13 to 15 and makes their accounts to private by default. This would go around to users who already have the Tiktok account or for those who will still sign up. Aside from this,the platform is changing its default settings for comments to either “friends only” or “only me”.
There will also be changes for 16 to 17 years old teenagers. Their videos will still be functional to remix with Duet and Stitch however, the default settings will be changed to “friends only” and “only me”. Summarizing the changes, the aim is to change TikTok’s youngest users online behavior.
It has been reported that, unlike any platform, TikTok has the youngest users. And it has the third of the app’s US users are under the age of 14 (the app’s guidelines allow for users under 13 to have limited accounts that can’t post videos or comment).
