It seems like the best smart dog collar has finally been developed helping pet owners understand what their dog is feeling.
According to the story by Reuters, a particular South Korean startup has finally developed a certain AI-powered dog collar capable of detecting five different emotions in canines by simply monitoring their barks through the use of a certain voice recognition technology. The smart dog collar could be a really strong sell to dog owners as they would finally be able to understand their pets even more.

The newly developed Petpuls collar helps the pet owners tell through a certain smartphone application whether or not their dogs are either happy, relaxed, angry, anxious, or sad. The smart dog collar will also track the dog’s very own physical activities and their rest.
The director of global marketing at the Petpuls Lab, Andrew Gil, recently told Reuters that the device will be able to give a dog a voice in order to help humans better understand them. The company has now begun gathering certain types of barks in order to analyze the dogs’ emotions back in 2017.

Just three years later, they then developed a certain proprietary algorithm that was based on a database of over 10,000 samples coming from 50 different breeds of dogs. According to Moon Sae-Mi, who reportedly had a six-year-old Border Collie, they first thought that she was just happy whenever she would play and even felt sad and anxious whenever the owner was not home. Actually, it was found that she actually felt angry whenever she had lost a certain game that she had played with the owner, like how humans feel.
The collar reportedly has a 90% average accuracy rate when it comes to emotional recognition. This is according to the Seoul National University, which had tested the certain device that the company now says is the very first of its own kind to first be powered by AI voice recognition technology.
The Petpuls Lab had started marketing the smart dog collar online over in October of last year at just $99. The entire global pet care market was reportedly worth a whopping $138 billion back in 2020 and up by 34% according to the data by Euromonitor. This was reportedly due to people spending even more time at home along with their own pets or had started adopting new pets during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The particular global dog population has reportedly grown by 18% of the exact same year to a whopping 489 million. According to Gil, more and more people started to adopt dogs. However, some of them ended up abandoning those dogs due to miscommunication. Petpuls is said to have an important role in the current pandemic helping owners understand their dogs much better to increase their bonding.
