Telegram is currently working on a tool for transferring chat histories from WhatsApp to its platform. This application tool was briefly shown in the App Store last Wednesday. The first one who spotted the by WABetaInfo.
Telegram and the New Tool
WABetaInfo was able to discover the tool and even managed to go over with it. According to them, users will need to use WhatsApp’s Export Chat option, then select Telegram from the Actions menu to export WhatsApp chats. The communication application would import messages that a user would love to still have. Once the process is complete, all the messages and media are now available on the Telegram tool.
Many will see the import tool soon, as the Telegram subscription surges after the privacy scandal.
Within 72 hours or three days only, Telegram has added a total of 25 million new users to their app.
According to the report, its rival app, WhatsApp had the most contribution in this factor due to its issues with privacy. People went looking for an alternative then, Telegram appeared.
On Wednesday, January 13, Telegram achieves its best start of the year—reaching over 500 million users, for year 2021.
After the app’s initial release in 2013, the messaging app is now on its highest user base ever. Surprisingly, this record happened most in over 72 hours only.
As said by Telegram’s founder and CEO Pavel Durov, this increase was one of the highest spikes happened in less than 7 years.
Out of the 25 million new users, a majority (38%) of new users are from Asia, followed by 27% from Europe, 21% from Latin America, and 8% from MENA.
