Coronavirus has now infected over 100 million people, around the globe. Despite the continuous number of positive cases, the government is still having problems on monitoring the cases, for real-time events.
Thankfully, a new COVID-19 device will soon start its manufacturing in Mexico. COVID-19 Hunter, “the world’s first non-contact viral detector,” will be soon made available in the market. Here’s what it does.
New COVID-19 device lets users detect virus from humans to items
As of now, there are only limited ways to know if you have COVID-19 or not. You can do tests, but most hospitals charge large amount of money to make it happen.
Another thing is that there are still no devices that could trigger an alarm, whether an item has virus droplets.
These two problems are now solved, thanks to COVID-19 Hunter.
As per Forbes Mexico, COVID-19 Hunter device is the “world’s first non-contact viral detector.” This tool detects Coronavirus without a need for medical exam or tests.
Developed by the American company Advanced Medical Solutions International (AMSI), COVID-19 Hunter is said to have 99% effectivity in detecting viruses—apart from COVID-19—and has high sensitivity even within 0 to 2 meters away.
“The Covid Hunter is a non-invasive, non-contact, immediate and portable virus detector, specially designed for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes covid-19 disease, demonstrating 99% effectiveness and with sensitivity within 0 to 2 meters on surfaces, through glass or transparent material , and inside the human body ”, explained the company.
How to use it?
Using the COVID-19 Hunter device is as easy as using a standard temperature checker.
According to report, the device will emit a beam that will detect if the spike protein, found in Coronavirus, is present in the patient’s body.
Once found, the scanner will identify the protein, if matched to what’s inside COVID-19, and users will hear an alarm sound—signaling the patient with positive virus.
If the patient does not have any viruses, the device will stay silent throughout the process.
The company detailed that the scanner can locate the coronavirus in various human organs, such as the lungs, throat, nose and skin, and even on clothing.
Not only humans
The other good thing about the COVID-19 hunter device is that it cannot just detect viruses from humans, it can also be alarmed when an item has COVID-19 droplets or not.
For example, you received a package from abroad. Users only have to point the laser to the package and the COVID-19 hunter device will automatically detect if it has some kind of viruses.
Detection needs to be prioritized too
As explained by Dr. Alejandro Díaz Villalobos, a specialist in allergy and immunology and creator of the device, mitigation and early detection of the virus must be the priority in solving the pandemic—aside from finding a vaccine.
“We have to understand that vaccination is only part of the solution and think about how long it will take us to vaccinate 70 or 100% of the more than 7 billion people on the planet,” said Díaz. “If we can detect immediately who is infected, we can mitigate their contact with other people or control their access.”
