All of a sudden, a canceled Xbox Live remaster of GoldenEye 007 surfaced online. For the classic, a complete replay and half an hour of online came out of nowhere.
GoldenEye 007 is one of Nintendo 64’s greatest icons. Even then, it was one of the old games that might have given the Xbox Live Arcade a fresh lease on existence. Rare’s postponed remaster emerges in public for the first time.
The canceled remaster could come out this year
GoldenEye is one of those games that, as time went on, did not mature well. The game was clunky, frustrating to play and had tank controls that any current player might switch off. People still admired it with rose-tinted lenses back then.
Rare, the game’s initial creator, had intended to make a remaster of the Xbox Live Arcade version. Back though, with the new age of gaming, the game was not feasible at all.
Thanks to Youtuber Graslu00, the XBLA variant of GoldenEye is now out on Youtube. Along with other FPS titles of the moment, Graslu00’s channel specializes in GoldenEye videos.
The game is not part of the 4chan leak that occurred earlier this month, according to the uploader. The game will apparently be published somehow later in 2021, which implies that it is either a ROM hack, a debugged ROM, or a future official version.
Remakes of GoldenEye are not new
For the novels, his GoldenEye 007 playthrough is one. The resolution and video of the game run at 4K60fps and runs on the Xenia Simulator. And though, this is not the first time that 007 gaming has been used by viewers.
A tiny section of the completed game came out of the woodwork in 2016. It even had visuals updated, also having the option to swap between legacy graphics and graphics upgraded.
Back in 2010, there was an initial reimagination of GoldenEye produced by Activision. And then, the Wii game was not even near to being any decent at all. As for the actual gameplay footage itself, for a reboot, it looks fine.
With textures reminiscent of Counter-Strike: Source, the footage is very good quality. The height of the dam was very nostalgic, with incredible 4K high-res photos of the mountains. However, the gameplay was a little wonky.
The firing was too fast which was difficult with the death animation. The properties are very fantastic back then. The sketches of the characters were stronger than ever, and the tempo was as high as ever.
While GoldenEye 007 will never be released, IO Interactive, which has just launched Hitman 3, is working on a new James Bond game.
