Call of Duty 2021 is coming? Although Activision confirmed the upcoming title, the popular publisher is still refusing to provide specific details regarding CoD 2021 such as release dates, what to expect, and other important info that would enlighten the fans.
Although this is the case, there are many rumors that already leaked Call of Duty 2021’s possible details. Activision’s not-so-shocking announcement showed that it is not breaking its nearly 20-year long streak of annual releases.
Right now, it is not yet sure who will be the one to develop Call of Duty 2021. However, there are strong candidates that Activision could choose from. These include Sledgehammer, Treyarch, and Infinity Ward.
Who will be Call of Duty 2021’s developer?
Previously Activision tasked Sledgehammer to develop a game that should be released in 2020. However, Sledgehammer had some issues with Raven Software, the tech giant company it has partnered with to develop the title. Their problems forced Activision to pass the task to Treyarch, which is the well-known developer of Call of Duty 2021’s predecessors such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and many more.
Although Sledgehammer had some rough times previously, rumors claimed that it didn’t stop its project. Some sources and reports claim that the title it is currently working on is the upcoming Call of Duty 2021. But, these development issues still show that Activision could also decide to choose any of the three giant developers to create the upcoming title.
Will it be PS5 and Xbox Series X/S exclusive?
Yes, Activision announced that there will be an upcoming CoD 2021. But, the popular game publisher didn’t release any confirmation if it’ll be specifically developed for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Activision also didn’t confirm if the upcoming game will be compatible with the previous consoles or with desktop devices. On the other hand, rumors claimed that Activision is unpredictable, which means that the publisher could release a smaller scale title. This includes a possible Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer’s remake.
Release date and what to expect
Tom Henderson, a well-known leaker with great prediction background, claimed that Activision’s upcoming shooting game would be released on Nov. 21. Why? Because he stated that the popular publisher of the CoD franchise has a pattern of one year and two months interval. He even showed graphs to support his theory, which is quite believable.
On the other hand, some people claim that the game would have a more futuristic vibe, just like Cyberpunk 2077. However, the title’s setting is allegedly taking place in 2054 or 2061, which is less high-tech compared to Cyberpunk 2077. Although this is the case, Activision is popular for its great graphics. This means that players and fans should expect a title that has advanced mechanics and graphics.
But, these are all just rumors and speculations. What will happen and when will it happen still depends on Activision’s management.
