Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti release could be offering a boost over the previous RTX 3080 but just with 12GB of video memory.
After reports came out last year of the GPU being “delayed indefinitely”, new information now starts leaking about the upcoming release of another batch of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPUs. However, it might not be the particular news that PC gamers were all hoping to hear.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti release
The latest coming rumors actually suggest that the said Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will launch this coming April offering just 12GB of VRAM. This is quite a comedown from the original 20GB of VRAM that the GPU was previously expected to carry out.
According to the story of TomsGuide, the news actually comes from @kopite7kimi on Twitter who also has previous form when it comes to particularly leaking some reliable hardware information. Of course, however, the information should still be taken along with a pinch of salt.
GPU CUDA cores
The leaker had also claimed back in December 2020 that the card would be rolling out 20GB of VRAM. However, either that information was previously incorrect or that Nvidia has internally decided to change its course due to wanting to prioritize cheaper prices.
The amount of VRAM, however, still does not appear to be the only focused aspect of the upcoming RTX 3080 Ti that could have been downgraded as well. According to the Twitter leaker, the GPU could also contain 10,240 CUDA cores in comparison to the previous reports that had claimed to be able to offer 10,496 cores.
RTX 3080 Ti GPU
The news has been receiving a number of mixed responses coming from social media with certain gamers that are not particularly thrilled that a certain high-end take on the said Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 could have been downgraded. Differentiating the upcoming RTX 3080 Ti compared to the more expensive Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 which could well be the reason for the company’s decision for its potential downgrade.
The latter, however, needs to continue justifying the said premium price tag. It is also worth noting that the upcoming RTX 3090 is actually targeted more towards the said professional creators. The RTX 3080 Ti would be for more of a flagship GPU for the PC gamers.
While Nvidia has become really popular with their EVGA GeForce RTX 3080, the GeForce RTX 3090 has taken GPU prices to a whole new level when it was first released. As of the moment, however, the prices have relatively dropped to become more affordable as justifying the price of the GPU seems to get harder and harder.
