POCO came back to the scene in 2018 with the POCO F1, but the momentum was not sustained. It became dormant for about one and a half years until the POCO X2 was launched last February 2020 where POCO emerged back as a sub-brand of Redmi. Now comes POCO M3.
Similar to its Redmi counterpart, the POCO found its niche in the budget segment. The POCO M2 came out to be the best-selling smartphone in India last November, selling over a million units. POCO has become the third biggest brand in India basin on online sales last 2020. Garnering over 80% of the total phone sales in India with the sub-$200 category. With much customer acceptance, POCO has a great potential to grow to become a major brand especially with the coming of POCO M3.
It seems that this is what it intends to do with the POCO M3; the phone was revealed last November 2020 and is now on the way to India. There may be a lot of budget phones available in India, but the POCO M3 certainly makes an attractive alternative to the Redmi and Realme offer in this segment.
The POCO M3 is quite similar to the Redmi 9 with regards to the hardware, but it has a distinct design that can stand out from the rest with the cheaper price than Redmi 9. M3 comes with 6GB of RAM as standard with either 64GB or 128GB ROM and the same 6000mAh battery like Redmi 9. Planning to buy a budget phone soon? Consider POCO M3, here is what it offers.
Although the device itself is made out of plastic, POCO made it look like leather. As to its display, it is quite similar to its predecessor the M2. POCO M3 has a 6.53-inch FHD (2340 X 1080) LCD display that gives lively colors. Making users enjoy watching videos without any problems. Refresh rate though is just 60Hz, quite understandable considering its budget costs. The screen is protected with a layer of Gorilla Glass 3.
The exciting addition feature of the M3 is its stereo speakers, the primary speaker is found lower while the secondary speaker is on top next to the 3.5mm jack. It is not common to see stereo speakers among budget phones. The huge battery life with the vibrant 1080p panel and stereo sound makes the M3 a powerhouse – users will be able to enjoy a lot of shows before the battery runs out.
POCO M3 makes it one of the best cheap Android phones, having the similar specs as the Redmi 9. It has a triple camera with 48MP as primary plus 2Mp as macro and 2MP for portrait, while the selfie camera comes with 8MP. It is equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, BT5.0, NFC. The color variants are: Blue, Blue, Yellow. It has dimensions of 165.8 x 76.7 x 8.8mm and weighs 208g.
