If you are a “League of Legends” fan, then you are familiar with Riot’s routine of removing very useful items that bring the best out of your champ. Since many players are already complaining about the “LoL’ developer’s habit, Riot finally explained why it is continuously removing items that are really special for specific players.
Riot stated the reasons why it is removing and repurposing some items in the “League of Legends” 11th season this year of 2021. This habit of Riot is an uncommon practice in the world of competitive online games, it has always been up to developers whether they decide to walk players through their decision-making process.
One of the main reasons for Riot is balancing the Summoner’s Rift. Since “League of Legends” has a massive player base of around 115 million players, Riot is having a hard time making the platform fair for all players, leaving the popular developer no choice but to keep making changes, as well as removing certain items and replacing them with new ones.
If you are one of the players who just returned to playing “League of Legends,” you will notice that there are already big changes that took place, which is really hard to comprehend. Another reason for Riot is that the items are too situational, overpowered, or too similar to other builds.
“League of Legends” items to be removed on Season 11
“League of Legends” action is quite fair, but some players are still enraged with the items’ removal, especially those that play champions with specific builds. This means that these heroes would only have the best performance if they are using certain items.
For example, Riot found that some of the game‘s item Statikk Shiv, which granted players extra critical hit chance, attack speed, and movement speed, was too similar to Runaan’s Hurricane. The only difference is that Statikk Shiv offers a lightning strike, while the Runaan’s Hurricane allows multiple long-ranged attacks.
On the other hand, there are also some items that are mandatory for certain champs, but they are useless when it comes to other heroes in the game. These include HexrTech Gunblade and Rod of Ages.
Although this is the case, Riot still tried to adjust these game’s items so that players can still use them for their favorite champs. However, the item wound up being irrelevant for too long, violating two of the principles for Mythic items that we were aiming for–satisfaction and choice.
Because of the same issue, Riot had to remove some items for the game’s Season 11 update. These include Frozen Mallet, Spellbinder, Twin Shadows, and Jaurim’s Fist. On the other hand, Riot will also remove some iconic items. These include Iceborne Gauntlet, Trinity Force, and Righteous Glory.
