Rumors claim that Apple is working on a new iPhone technology. The tech giant company is allegedly developing a magnetic battery pack for upcoming iPhone flagships, but some sources say that the tech firm’s reverse wireless charging innovation is unlikely to arrive soon.
Apple’s alleged magnetic battery pack is designed to attach to the rear of the device using MagSafe. Although some prototypes have a rubber exterior, the battery pack isn’t thought to act as a protective case like previous iPhone battery accessories from the tech giant firm.
The battery pack accessory is thought to have been in development for at least a year, but it’s reportedly faced development issues relating to the iPhone’s software thinking that the pack is overheating. However, Apple hasn’t officially announced it yet since it is cautious about announcing charging accessories. Why? Because it was forced to cancel its AirPower charging mat in 2019.
On the other hand, Apple’s development problems could mean that the new battery pack accessory is delayed or even scrapped.
Apple’s new battery pack
If Apple’s innovation becomes successful, it is expected to be the company’s latest magnetic battery charging pack in its iPhone 12 MagSafe accessory lineup, which attacks onto the back of the smartphone with the assistance of an embedded circle of magnets.
The manufacturer’s previous accessories have included wall chargers, as well as magnetically attaching wallets. MagSafe is said to be returning to the company’s laptops as well, only with a connector reminiscent of the old pill-shaped design. Speculations first appeared after a reference to it was found in code in the iOS 14.5 beta.
Aside from the upcoming magnetic battery pack, the tech giant manufacturer is allegedly interested in allowing its devices to charge one another. Rumors stated that it had planned for its 2019 iPhone lineup to be able to wirelessly charge AirPods, but the plans were later scrapped. The functionality is “unlikely in the near future.”
Aside from the alleged magnetic battery pack, the tech giant manufacturer also has a patent for a pencil with multiple functionalities. The tech giant firm has been granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a touch-based Pencil that has removable and exchangeable components.
The tech giant manufacturer explained that each removable component provides distinct features, allowing the user to select various capabilities by employing each of the various functional modules. Its alleged new stylus can perform different tasks such as pause, advance or reverse playback, and advance or reverse to another episode, track, or photo.
On the other hand, the manufacturer also claimed that the detachable component can also function as a connector for charging and communicating with the stylus. Apple Pencil could include a tip with ink, paint, lead, or graphite that can be used for markings on a physical surface.
