Since COVID-19 testing kits have reportedly been short in supply, Apple has stepped in to help be able to develop a more efficient way of manufacturing the kits boosting outputs by almost 4,000% ever since last April.
Apple had just announced that COPAN Diagnostics has been able to ship over 15 million COVID-19 sample collection kits for different communities across the country. Teams over at Apple, COPAN, and reportedly a dozen other different US companies have all created innovative processes as well as developed new machinery for the COPAN Southern California facilities. This increased the test-kit production by near to 4,000 percent ever since April.
Apple COVID-19 efforts
Ever since May, COPAN has reportedly shipped those sample collection kits towards medical facilities all across the country which includes hospitals over in Wisconsin, California, and Texas. In order to meet the reported demand in order to test the resources, COPAN had reportedly accelerated its production as well as shipping time. They had also reportedly built an entire team in order to ramp up the project by hiring around 250 new employees that work alongside Apple product designers, engineers, operations professionals, and others.
Together, the reported teams had opened a brand-new facility and were able to set up some state-of-the-art medical supply chain in only a matter of weeks in order to be able to meet with the country’s reported testing needs as well as help the communities shape their own responses. One particular respiratory virus specialist who has reportedly been comparing the COVID-19 testing kits notes that COPAN are now the best available.
Apple’s Advanced Manufacturing Fund
Dr. Aleta Bonner is notably a pediatric emergency medical physician in Temple, Texas and has reportedly been studying the effects of certain respiratory viruses for over two decades. When the pandemic suddenly caused a dramatic rise of cases in her community, she then took some time away from pediatric medicine in order to focus directly on collecting COVID-19 specimens as well as conducting a research study that would help determine the most effective way for people to test for the virus. Her hospital reportedly received the said COPAN COVID-19 testing kits.
It was also noted that the preferred specimen swabs are most definitely COPAN’s due to their noted superior collection capabilities. Apple’s known Advanced Manufacturing Fund reportedly provides other US companies with the capital that is needed to be able to ramp up production of mostly tech products. The company has noted that they have already invested over $1.3 billion and have been able to support over 450,000 US jobs scattered across all of the 50 US states.
With COVID-19 in the picture, it is important to sanitize everything you may own like your phone or other small items that you usually carry. A phone sanitizer helps with this process being both efficient and safe. There are also other sanitizers like a sanitizer box that help with bigger items.
