Tesla has recently stopped taking new orders for its supposed cheapest version of the popular Tesla Model Y EV SUV and has even removed it from the official online configuration within just a month into the vehicle’s launch.

The reported change now comes amid some broader pricing as well as configurator changes that are increasingly becoming quite difficult to follow up. Some time last month, Tesla actually launched a brand new Model Y Standard Range RWD capable of doing 244 miles of range.
Tesla Model Y 244 miles
The launch was quite surprising considering that the known Tesla CEO noted that the company won’t really produce the version of the said Model Y noting that the range would then be “unacceptably low” at a little less than just 250 miles. Tesla then released the new version of the said vehicle along with an EPA estimated range of reaching 244 miles at a starting price of just $42,000.
According to the story by Electrek, some time last week, the automaker surprised the public again by reducing the total price of the said new base version of the Tesla Model Y by a whopping $2,000 only a month into the official launch of the EV. The reported price change was actually part of a much broader pricing update throughout both the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model Y lineup.

Just a few days later, Tesla then confuses the public by stopping any orders for the brand new Model Y Standard Range RWD and even removing the said EV altogether from the company’s online configurator. As usual, Tesla also did not communicate any particular reason behind the supposedly sudden change in the new Tesla Model Y lineup.
The new Tesla Model Y Standard Range has also reportedly disappeared from the official Tesla Canadian online configurator. Along with the recent removal of the base version of the Tesla Model Y, the company has also decided to reduce the total price of the Model Y Long Range AWD by a surprising $1,00 which now brings the total price to just $48,990.
That particular version of the electric SUV would now become the base version and was the only one that did not receive a price change in the recent update that took place sometime last week.
