Care has become a marketing strategy in the I Care a Lot shown on Netflix. It has a high tag price looking for a target to devour and to gain more profits.
I Care a Lot, written and directed by J Blakeson, is an unanticipated thriller story revolving around Marla Grayson. It started like a heist thriller with attempts to acquire profit and escaping capture. The end result seems unfinished, viewers feel itching for more while hoping for less at the same time.
Played by Pike Rosamund, Marla’s calm and confident composure backed by Marc Canham’s musical score makes the movie captivating. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last September 2020. Available now for Netflix subscribers, one can enjoy watching it with Samsung TV.
Plot of I Care a Lot
Marla was appointed by the court to care for the elderly who need help. Marla targets the elderly with assets and brings them to the care facilities while exploiting their assets that serve as payment for the service rendered.
The entanglement started when Dr. Karen Amos recommended Jennifer Peterson, played by Dianne Wiest, to be a rare cherry target. A rare cherry target is one who has assets who live alone with no relatives to care for, thus no hitches.
Conspiracy with the doctor
Conspiring with the patient’s doctor, Marla convinced the court that Jennifer Peterson needs to be cared for even if she thinks she can manage alone. Jennifer was elusive and content to live alone prior to Marla’s coming. Backed with a court order, Jennifer was ripped off from her own home and was sent to Marla’s controlling care facilities.
$10 Million demand in I Care a Lot show
Marla with intimate girlfriend Fran started to enjoy exploiting Jennifer’s assets but later on discovered that Jennifer is not a rare cherry after all. With Roman, played by Peter Dinklage, who was a Russian mob boss coming into the picture. Roman was the son of Jennifer who demanded her mother to be released while offering to pay a certain amount of money.
Knowing the value of the diamonds behind the safe could amount to several million, Marla refused the offer. Instead, she demanded $10 Million for Jennifer’s release and return of the diamonds.
Not yielding to the demand, Roman inflicted pain with threats of killing to Marla and Fran. Consumed by her determination Marla managed to retaliate and inflicted pain on Roman with the insistence of her $10 Million demand.
Not giving in to her demand, Roman instead offered a partnership opportunity to build a global empire of so-called caring. To which Marla happily accepted and became a powerful business leader. Roman made her the CEO of the company.
However, good things never last. Marla was shot to death by Mr. Feldstrom, whose mother died being victimized by Marla’s guardianship.
