On Tuesday, 27-year-old Ariana Grande announced her joining NBC’s The Voice as a coach in the next season. Replacing Nick Jonas original position, she will be coaching alongside John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Blake Shelton.
According to the singer, she has been a great fan of the show for a while now, so she feels honored and excited to be finally part of The Voice family. She adds in the statement, “I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists and help to take their craft to the next level.”
Ariana Grande’s Instagram Post
In an Instagram post by Ariana Grande, she publishes a picture of her on a spinning chair, with the caption, “Surprise!!! I am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice !” She also adds at the end of the post, “@nickjonas we will miss you.”
“As an undeniable force in pop music, Ariana’s inimitable success in the music industry is extraordinary. We were thrilled to learn that she is a true fan of The Voice and know that this enthusiasm will add to her impact as a dynamic coach,” said Jenny Groom, the EVP of Unscripted Content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. She further adds, “Ariana is a visionary with over a decade of experience in the music industry. Her unmatched vocal skills, creativity and unique expertise on all facets of the industry will make her an invaluable coach to the next generation of artists.”
What the Other Coaches Might Think of This
In the upcoming The Voice Season 21, it will be the sixth season that John, Kelly, and Blake are in The Voice as coaches together. On the other hand, the fourth chair has alternated between Nick Jonas and Gwen Stefani.
In Season 19, Kelly states how thrilled she was for Gwen’s return as she always enjoys coaching beside another female performer. She says, “I love having another female [as a coach].” She further adds, “I’ve done it with all the guys, and it’s cool…but I like having the female energy to kind of bounce off of. I’m a girls’ girl. I have a lot of girlfriends, so I’m welcoming of that.”
This statement can be taken as her welcoming Ariana Grande in the panel, not only as another female performer, but also as a talented coach with huge potential. Indeed, there is a lot to expect from this new addition to the original lineup.
