ZTE Axon 20 is the most underrated rival of the newly-released Samsung Galaxy S20. In terms of specs and design, which is the better Android smartphone?
Have you heard about the brand called ZTE? If not yet, you’re not the only one. Though it’s not really getting attention from the media, ZTE is one of the leading companies focusing in installing 5G connections, around the globe. Not only that, this company is also partially-owned by the Chinese government. Their latest smartphone is called ZTE Axon 20 which went available last year of September.
A lot of great things can be found in this specific ZTE model. But, one thing that makes it stand out is the fact that it can be compared to Samsung’s latest Galaxy S20 series. Here’s everything you need to know about the two smartphones.
When it comes to design, both Samsung and ZTE brands have their own edges. The Axon 20 has 6.92-inch, while Galaxy S20 offers 6.2-inch smartphone– slight difference in bigger screen. As expected though, the first phone is much heavier with its eight gram-difference in weight.
Axon 20 has materials of glass front and back with a touch of aluminum frame. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S20 offers glass front, plastic back, and aluminum frame. When it comes to colors, the Galaxy S20 has more varieties: Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, Cloud Navy, Cloud White, Cloud Red, and Cloud Orange. While the Axon 20 only has four colors: Black, Golden, Blue, and Purple.
If one of your top choices in smartphones is great display, Samsung might be the better choice than the ZTE. Both smartphone varies in displays with Axon 20 having OLED screen, while Galaxy S20 gets SUPER AMOLED screen.
Their refresh rates are also different: Axon 20 (90 Hz) versus Galaxy S20 (120 Hz). Both of them are under ‘Always-on display.’
Both ZTE and Samsung focus to bring great smartphones with massive camera set– and that’s what they offered last year. The former phone offers quad-camera consists of wide, mega-wide, macro, and depth sensor cameras. On the other hand, Galaxy S20 consists of triple cameras: wide, telephoto, and ultrawide.
Their video performance are also different from each other. ZTE has 8K video recording (with 15 Fps), and 4K video recording @ 30/60 Fps. Meanwhile, Samsung has 4K video recording @ 30/60 Fps.
Storage and Performance
Both devices offer 5G connection. However, Axon 20 only offers Android 10.0, while Samsung is now in Android 11. Their chipset are also different, ZTE (Qualcomm SDM765 Snapdragon 765G), while Samsung (Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865). Both octacore.
When it comes to storage, the two smartphones have the same sets of memory and RAM. Axon 20 and Galaxy S20 have two choices:128 or 256 GB and 6 or 8 GB RAM. Both also consists of external memory matched to microSDXC.
Sorry Samsung fans, but ZTE has the top spot for prices. The latest Axon 20 is one of the cheapest Android smartphones in the country with only $405 price range. Unfortunately, the Samsung brand is much more expensive with its price range of almost $700.
If you’re looking for which is cheaper between Samsung Galaxy S20 and ZTE Axon 20– go to the latter. But, performance and specs-wise, it’s still better to choose Samsung.
