Dell has announced its new Alienware m15 gaming laptop equipped with AMD Ryzen 5000 series. The is the first Alienware notebook that uses an AMD processor along with Nvidia graphic cards.
There are two processor options to go with the Alienware m15 gaming laptop. The base configuration of the Ryzen 7 5800H processor with Nvidia RTX 3060. You can choose the upgraded version of the M15 with Ryzon 9 5900HX octa-core processor with Nvidia RTX 3070.
Processor and graphics card
Both of the options have the 115W total graphics power level with 10W of extra boost capable up to 125W of graphics power level. What is interesting is that the 3060 has a higher base and boost clock than the higher 3070 option. The base of 1,387 MHz vs. 1,110 MHz (which is lower) and a boost clock of 1,702 MHz vs. the 1,560 MHz respectively. Both options offer some of the highest clock speeds available among the thin gaming laptop. Alienware is boosting the clock high up to the ceiling.
Alienware M15 operating system and design
The M15 R5 uses Windows 10 64-bit operating system either the Home or Pro version. The Ryzen Edition R5 is also the first Alienware that comes with a high endurance clear coat. Resistant to stain, giving you a silky-smooth finish for an elegant feel.
RAM & ROM
The gaming laptop supports RAM with three variants to choose from the 8GB DDR4 3200MHz memory, the 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory, or up to 32GB of 3200MHz DDR4 system. This is the first Alienware laptop that uses this fast type of RAM with two SO-DIMM slots.
The Ryzen Edition R5 has a range of Storage that suits your preference. With the following option of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, 2TB all PCIe M.2 SSD. The premium can go up to 4TB with dual-drive Non-RAID Configurations capable of up to 2TB PCIe M.2 SSD each.
Alienware m15 Display and refresh rate
The 15-inch display has three options for you to choose from. The first option is the 15” Full HD (FHD) 360 Hz refresh rate with the Nvidia G-Sync (300-nit screen brightness). Or you can opt to choose the 15” QHD 240 Hz also with Nvidia G-Sync (but with the brighter screen of 400-nit). If budget is a primary consideration, you can opt for the base option. The 15” base FHD screen with 165 Hz refresh rate (300-nit screen brightness) but without Nvidia G-Sync.
Camera & Battery
Its camera has the 1280 x 720 resolution with dual-array microphones and the upgraded one with the addition that supports Windows Hello IR. Dell uses the updated Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 wireless 2.5 Gbps Ethernet NIC for its internet connectivity. It comes with Lithium-Ion (86 Wh) Battery with the Alienware top-of-the-line Battery Defender technology.
RGB Lighting mechanical keyboard
Lastly, Dell has furnished the Ryzen Edition R5 with the ultra-low-profile mechanical keyboard that has been designed in combination with Cherry MX. It comes with per-key RGB lighting that gives a decorative and elegant look.
