Computer security is once again at risk with a novel hacking threat discovered in the digital landscape.
Computer security is a necessity. From hardware to software, to computers and smartphones, nowhere is safe. Digital attacks on security on the internet are now hugely rampant. Everything on the internet is being held hostage by hackers with the threat just under everyone’s noses. As the masses are continuously absorbed in the Internet of Things, or basically just everything that is a technology and has internet connectivity, we are all vulnerable to such threats.
Well-resourced hackers who are working for the state and have no intentions of riding with the bandwagon of threatening the privacy of others are on the lookout for the bad guys, with the constant game of hide and seek. However, even with the efforts invested, they are nowhere near the end goal. However, security firms like Forescout remind the public based on their new research that millions of devices under the Internet of Things, hereafter IoT, along with machines are discovered to have critical security vulnerabilities that make them an easy target for hackers to exploit.
According to research, these vulnerabilities are related to the Domain Name System (DNS) applications, which results in either the Denial of Service (DoS) or Remote Code Execution (RCE). These, in return, allow hackers to target devices offline with slow and faulty computer security.
Computer security and protection that can match these vulnerabilities of the TCP or IP stacks necessitates patching of the devices. However, it might not always be possible in addition to it being quite difficult. It is because the effort required to potentially being in drastic change depends on whether the device has a standard IT server or is under the IoT device.
In a broader sense, Ian Ferguson, the man behind Security Boulevard, explained that the change in terms of computer and internet security is a must, specifically because it now relates to various IoT devices. There is a need to secure the doors on both sides through the use of computer security software or computer security systems.
Moreover, a partition that involves hardware and software should be implemented, especially if an operating system is overtaken, so that the core system can continue functioning. However, the problem of computer security and IoT threats will not be solved anytime soon, as our constant interest to add internet connections to every smart device in the current time equates to a much bigger threat from hackers.
