Who’s ready for iPhone 13? Heads up, though, the new Apple smartphone is slowly looking like an Android. Here’s why.
On Saturday, April 17, 9to5Mac reported that a new iPhone 13 leak was discovered on Twitter. The images shared on the social media was said to be originally posted in China’s app, Weibo. It shows that the design notch for the new iPhone will even be smaller than its predecessor iPhone 12.
iPhone 13 is getting smaller
The above pictures were the rumored iPhone 13 design. Though Apple has not yet giving any detailed designs on the model, couple of leakers have already made their way to announced the device. Of course, all these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, for now.
Going back to the notch topic, the Weibo images posted by Twitter user Duan Rui @duanrui1205 showed a massive reduction in the upper notch area. As 9to5Mac posted in its previous reports, they already expected this reduction– at max of 30%– in the upper area of the device.
Based on the available images from Duan Rui, it visualize the iPhone 13 display size and notch using screen protectors, or “film samples.” The Face ID and camera components, however, remain in the visible notch region. Since the images used screen protectors, it was also intentionally shown that the protectors were also adjusted to the new design of the iPhone 13.
What happens with smaller notch?
Since we only have the rumored renders of the possible iPhone 13 design, we don’t know any reasons why Apple would make the notch smaller than it is. On the other hand, this also suggests that the screen would be bigger, making people confused whether Apple is just copying a standard Android phone.
If the screen is bigger, though, there will be more space for Apple to put other features on the line. The battery percentage number could now be available in the status bar. This tab is now only accessible if you swipe down to the Control Center.
iPhone 13 features: Specs, price, and release date
As said, there are still no assurances of the rumored specs on the new iPhone 13. But, it’s still good to know things ahead of its release date.
Thanks to all leakers and reports released over the past weeks, iPhone 13 is now slowly getting more visual than ever. When it comes to its display, the notch is expected to be smaller than iPhone 12. Aside that, the model is also rumored to have a portless design, dropping the Lightning port.
iPhone 13 is also set to offer a 120Hz LTPO display with a LIDAR sensor, according to Tom’s Guide. Its sizes will start from a 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro and a 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max.
When it comes to the prices, no official numbers are released yet. Though, the prices are expected to be closer to iPhone 12’s amount. If that’s Apple’s plan, we might see the prices at ranges from $699, $799, $999 and $1,099, respectively.
