Apple ProMotion is one of the most advanced gadget features across different phone brands. However, the tech giant manufacturer’s popular iPhone smartphones haven’t received it yet. As of the moment, this capability is only available on the latest Apple iPad Pro.
High refresh rate displays have become very common elements on Android devices, even budget ones. A 90Hz or 120Hz display can be today found on mid-range devices and flagship devices, while dedicated gaming Android phones even feature 144Hz panels. However, this could be further enhanced once the new Apple ProMotion is released on the upcoming iPhone models.
Apple ProMotion’s capability
The new tech was first adopted by Apple iPad Pro models. While cheaper Android devices feature 90Hz and 120Hz display panels, these are fixed refresh rate displays that will lock at either 60Hz or 90Hz, or 120Hz. On the contrary, display panels that can dynamically adjust themselves according to on-screen content and movement are only found on higher-priced products.
The tech giant manufacturer explained that its Apple ProMotion capability could take the refresh rate up to 120Hz but can also bring it down to any number between 1Hz and 120Hz depending on the content on the screen. This means that players, who are using online mobile games that don’t support extra frames for higher-refresh rate displays, could now enjoy their games through their screens without wasting their device’s battery life.
Apple ProMotion is claimed to have the capability to reduce the power user of your smartphone, allowing you to play longer than you normally do. Similarly if you are on a stationary screen while reading a page or looking at a picture, the screen will tone down the refresh rate even further to dynamically save up on battery life.
When will the new iPhone capability arrive?
Previously, Apple ProMotion is expected to arrive on the latest iPhone 12 flagships. However, the tech giant manufacturer decided to skip this capability. Because of this, some rumors and speculations claimed that the innovation will now arrive in the next-gen iPhone models, such as the upcoming iPhone 13 series.
Although this is the case, the tech giant firm hasn’t confirmed yet if this is true. On the other hand, Apple hasn’t mentioned this feature for some quiet time now. So, it is better if you wait for the company’s announcements so that you will not get your hopes too high.
Aside from iPhones, the new high-end feature could also arrive in the new MacBook models. Why? Because high refresh rates are becoming increasingly common on gaming-focused laptops and content-creation machines as well.
On the other hand, Apple is set to unveil its new iPad Pro and other high-end devices on its Spring Loaded Event, which is expected to take place in Apr. 20. Experts and other analysts claim that the feature could also be unveiled during this ceremony. But, it will still depend on the tech giant manufacturer’s final decision. There’s only one thing fans can be sure of. Once the new ProMotion feature is released, their gaming experience will change for the better.
