Fans of Samsung have been suspecting rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold for a while now. They believe that it is under development and is said to be Samsung’s next top-tier foldable tablet.

While Samsung could also be setting up for the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, the company seemingly has future plans for a new foldable device in 2022.
A Twitter informant Yogesh informed one of our sources that Samsung’s previously leaked tri-folding design may appear as a foldable tablet. Rumors have been spreading that it is set for release in the first quarter of 2022, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold will present hybrid S Pen support and come with the same reinforced UTG (ultra-thin glass) that is set to launch on the same date with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.
These are just a few details Yogesh has leaked at the moment, but the tipster remarks that Samsung may offer a teaser of the device at the launch of their brand new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. This is basically something still being processed at Samsung.
As we look back at Samsung’s previous projects, this is not the first time they leaked about releasing a foldable tablet.
Earlier this April, a license for a more traditional ultra-slim tablet design was unraveled, which Samsung may decide is more reasonable in the end.
Samsung’s outgoing cannibalization dilemma
At the end of the day, whichever layout ends up winning, it sounds like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Tab is more like the smartphone correspondent of the Galaxy Z Flip – a unique device that folds up for easy portability, rather than to be used as a normal phone just like the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
After all, there is no confirmation whether the Galaxy Fold Tab 2 will have an external screen to be used when closed. If ever the company will decide to put an external screen it would make it barely distinguishable from the Galaxy Z Fold series.
Now that is the million-dollar question as to whether there is a market for this. This comes down to two things: how many people actually travel with their tablets, and how much will the Galaxy Z Fold Tab end up being when it’s unveiled this upcoming 2022.
Expected market price
Samsung foldables haven’t proven to be cheap so far, with the starting price for Galaxy Z Flip 5G is $1,449 and the Z Fold 2 coming in at $1,999. The foldable screen is the most expensive part of foldables and something of tablet proportions would have more presented. Meanwhile, other tablets from the industry don’t have the same quality with this, and that’s what makes it one of a kind.
Samsung distinctly believes that the future is in the foldables. The success of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Tab will go a long way to showing whether or not the market accepts this type of technology or will they disregard this.
