Fans and gamers appeased from the change in major decision by Sony after the announcement of discontinuing games from the Vita and PS3
PlayStation Vita and PlayStation3 Forges On!
With the uproar from fans of the veteran gaming console manufacturer, Sony retracted its decision to discontinue the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3.
Sony decided to keep these two classic consoles in their digital stores in respect to the general public’s demand to retain them. This allows game veterans and enthusiasts to be able to still purchase and avail of classic games from the aforementioned console series.
As stated by Jim Ryan, one of the people spearheading the PlayStation aspect of Sony, just this Monday, the decision to discontinue the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 gaming consoles was a wrong move on them.
Ryan also mentioned that the company saw that there are still so many avid fans of the classic games within the PS Vita and PS3 consoles; thus, resulting in Sony being glad that they were able to find a way to continue manufacturing their classic consoles.
Sony has two kinds of stores: physical and digital. The PlayStation Vita and PS3 have not been sold in physical stores for years, making the digital stores the only place to acquire games for them.
A lot of the games from the PlayStation consoles in question cannot be played in the newer PlayStation consoles.
Should Sony decide to discontinue selling in their digital stores, many games will cease to exist because they can’t be rendered anymore without the PS Vita and PlayStation 3.
During the time that Sony officially announced the shutting down of both their storefronts last month, many fans were critical of the tech company’s decision to do so.
This is because of the subsequent demise of a lot of the classic PlayStations games. Moreover, the notion that Sony didn’t pay respect to their own history was brought up as well.
In an interview made by Time last 2017, Ryan stated that he was in a “Gran Turismo” event back then wherein the existing PlayStation consoles were featured (back then, it was only up until the PS4).
The games from the PS1 and PS2 consoles were seen as old-timers and ancient with the idea of “does anyone even play games from this era anymore?”
In contrast to this, Sony’s latest investment (the PS5) is able to render a majority of games from its predecessor, the PS4. Similarly, the consoles of Microsoft’s Xbox are able to render all its games.
Sony manufactures PlayStation, one of the leading and most prominent video gaming consoles in the whole world. A product from this conglomerate tech company is the PlayStation 4 and, to get one started in playing with this certain gaming equipment, one may start playing the PS4 version of the game Monster Hunter: World!
