iPhone experts and analysts claim Apple should start making smartphones with a single lens setup. Here’s Apple needs this new technology.
iPhone is currently one of the best camera mobile devices in the market, thanks to its tri-camera lens setup, which offers HD photo and video outputs. Because of this, other brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, and other popular device names are now following Apple’s current camera design for its popular handset gadget.
But, some experts and analysts claim that Apple could further improve its iPhone’s camera performance. They claimed that the one thing that the tech giant manufacturer should do is to change its well-known flagship’s tri-camera setup into a single-camera lens setup.
As of the moment, the latest iPhone 12 has three lenses that are put together. This setup allows this popular mobile gadget to have computational blurs, providing its users with more HD photos and videos. However, this could still be enhanced using a larger lens and sensor. Experts claimed that this single-lens setup can turn your device into a DSLR killer.
Will iPhone be more advanced with a single lens setup?
Right now, DLSRs are currently used by professionals since they offer high-end images and videos. But, although they are more versatile, more professional, have lots of features, which are not available on mobile devices, they are still bulky and expensive. Because of this, iPhone and other handset brands are becoming more popular.
They are even some journalists and photographers who prefer to use iPhone. Previously, Time Magazine featured a photo that was captured using an Apple mobile tech. Back in 2020, studies confirmed that there were more than 1.43 trillion photos taken by people across the globe. This huge number of images were taken since 2020 is the start of the current global pandemic.
On the other hand, researchers said that 91% of these images were capture using iPhone and other popular mobile phones. This just shows that Apple’s mobile device can now provide the same output offered by DLSRs and other giant camera gadgets.
And now, Laci Lacko, a Slovakian designer, developed an iPhone render that shows a single-shooter large-lens design. It’s highly reminiscent of those slim point-and-shoot cameras people used back in the 2000s. The single lens on the Apple smartphone would end up fulfilling the role of multiple lenses. It would be much better at generating authentic bokeh during portrait mode, and a larger sensor would mean much more light entering the camera, resulting in a greater dynamic range, and better low-light performance.
If Apple decided to make a smartphone that has a single-lens setup, there’s a high chance that its popular mobile gadget will provide HD images and videos without the need for any computational algorithms, allowing this device to have image signal processing to work on other details.
However, this technology is still far away since Apple hasn’t commented about it. But, it will be a great innovation if the tech giant manufacturer decided to work on it, and possibly, release it in the future.
