Rocket League will finally be available on mobile devices, Epic Games reveals.
Rocket League, one of the most played in competitive gaming in recent years, is acquired by also a big hit in competitive gaming, Epic Games. Now, the game is part of the Epic vs. Apple trial. With this, reports revealed that Epic Games plans to bring the “full game experience” to mobile devices.
Rocket League Sideswipe
Recently, Epic Games, together with Psyonix, introduced the Rocket League Sideswipe, the game’s mobile version. Set in a 2D design, the closest way to imitate the full game experience is indeed coming to mobile, with beta included.
Additionally, according to The Verge’s documents, Epic also plans to release a project with a mobile version. Firstly, they released the Rocket League Sideswipe that was announced earlier this year. For the second one, its possible titles include “Rocket League Next.”
As for the matter concerning Epic and Apple clash, Epic’s court documents describe the game as “a next-generation client” that aspires to deliver the full game experience. Moreover, it says that it will be available on various platforms such as mobile, consoles, and of course, PC.
Rocket League “Next”
With the mobile version is now available, a second version is in tow. The gaming company has a beta planned for Q2 2021.
Epic seems to intend to target Q2 2021. However, this is just Epic’s assumption, and no official announcements have been given yet.
Furthermore, Epic seems to have plans of having an alpha. Still, no official statements from Epic nor Psyonix regarding its release have been made. Assuming that Epic desires a beta for Rocket League Next in Q2, they need to release the alpha as soon as possible or lose the chance forever.
There are no more further and specific game details revolving around the internet than the current release and the upcoming. Still, Epic provides a list of some relevant features for players.
Cross-progression and cross-play
Similar to Fortnite, Epic is currently developing Rocket League Next to supporting these features across different platforms. This plan means everyone can play on mobile while others play on PC or console.
While it is not much of a surprise for Epic Games loyalists since the game developer is a big proponent for cross-play, this decision is a one-step-ahead for Epic Games.
Of course, players seem too excited about this release but sorry to burst your bubble. These features might not be arriving for PC or consoles anytime soon. Epic Games revealed that they would launch the alpha/beta for mobile first before proceeding to other platforms. It might take a long while before it becomes available.
Epic Games has a lot of plans ahead for Rocket League. It also seems like their plans have actual strategies for actualization. We hope that these releases will be available in the near future. While waiting, gamers can play Grand Theft Auto on your PC.
