Ayoba, the African Messaging app, has reached 5.5 million users today!
Congratulations, Ayoba, for reaching 5.5 million users. Along with this celebratory number, Ayoba is also celebrating its 2nd anniversary. Another great piece of information from the app is its award for Best Mobile Application last year. Indeed a growing emerging app.
Twice the celebration of Ayoba! The Android app recently announced its big news. The app developers mentioned that they would launch a new version that will include voice and video calling. The updated app is now available to users, resulting in many calls going in and out worldwide every day.
Voice and Video calling
The voice and video calling feature are requested by the Ayoba users. They are asking the app company to support VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). Nolan Wolff, Head of Ayoba, said in addition, We are incredibly pleased to grant this request with our new release. Users can now utilize this feature after updating the latest version. Click ‘Update’ on Google Play Store to use this feature now.
Ayoba Lite Web Access
Besides the new features, Ayoba has also released ‘Ayoba lite.’ This update allows users to message their contacts from a web browser. It is designed to save space for users, especially those who are running out of storage. Therefore, if downloading the app is not applicable because of the full memory issue, users can access the app via Ayoba lite on a preferred browser. No worries, the company provides the same core functionality as the Android app. Wolff explains, “Ayoba lite is built as a progressive web app (PWA),” proving that it is accessible to audiences with different resources. He added, “The initial Beta version of the PWA is not related to the Android app, but sooner it will evolve into allowing to switch between the two platforms.”
Happy 2nd birthday Ayoba
Now with 5.5 million users and growing, Ayoba celebrates its second birthday extra special.
“It is crazy to think that two years have already passed since we launched the app in Cameroon with an MTN initial partnership. Ayoba has changed a lot, adding more features to improve it,” Prentout, Head of Consumer Marketing at Ayoba, said. “We have 130 content channels in seven languages such as Dari, Arabic, IsiZulu, English, French, Pashto, and Kinyarwanda. We are gradually evolving into becoming more inclusive,” he added.
Two years have indeed passed, with many challenges encountered by the company along the way. While it has been stressful, it was also rewarding. With it being the recipient of the Africa Digital Award for Best Mobile Application in November 2020, the experience was rewarding.
