This Instagram account posts a glitch that could freeze your iPhone permanently. Here are the things you can do to fix it. Would you try it?
Some Instagram users discovered a weird account that posted an image on its story, which could make your iPhone freeze. This new glitch is not new since various hackers are using IG and other social media platforms to different kinds of hacking methods that will allow them to take the users’ access on their smartphones so that they can hijack it.
However, this new Instagram glitch is still unknown since security researchers haven’t confirmed yet if the photo contains some kind of malware that makes your iPhone malfunction. This issue was first spotted by various TikTok users. They said that if you go to @pgtalal’s Instagram page and click on one of its highlights, it will crash your phone. People have been scratching their heads searching everywhere for the answers to why it happens.
And now, the tech YouTuber Arun Maini from the United Kingdom took it upon himself to find the answer to this puzzle. Maini found that the owner of the Instagram page was a 14-year-old hacker who wanted to “create some Instagram glitches” just for fun.
On the other hand, the actual user of the Instagram account by the name Talal, who wanted to stay anonymous, communicated with Maini. He said that they programmed it by writing codes that send requests to the social media platform‘s servers. He added that he “can’t tell people how did I create the highlight because I think it’s a secret (sic).” Aside from this, he also said that the teen coder has been programming since they were 11 years old.
Meanwhile, Maini approached many experts hoping for them to solve what was beneath Talal’s Instagram story. Ananay Arora, a security researcher at Arizona State University, US, managed to look into the code behind the unexpected behavior of the IG story, and he found that it was a combination of different Instagram stickers that were scaled to huge proportions. These stickers were a typing Instagram quiz, a countdown, and a question that was scaled to dimensions in quintillions, 13th, 12th and 17th powers of 10, respectively.
If you want to try it but are scared that your iPhone would permanently stop working after viewing the Instagram story, here’s what you need to do once your iPhone malfunctions.
How to Fix Freezing iPhone?
Sometimes, a malicious hacker could be the cause behind your lagging iPhone. If you want to fix it, here are some methods you can try. However, you need to remember that they are not 100% efficient.
- Restart or Reset Your iPhone
- Close Applications
- Restore Your iPhone
- Download a System Monitor
Going back to the hack, the IG account that posted the malicious content currently has more than 100,000 followers and only follows one user. What makes this account weird is that it has lots of followers but has no posts or whatsoever. This means that this account previously belonged to a popular user or influencer and then was bought by the hacker.
On the other hand, there’s also a high chance that the IG user used another hack to get followers. Whatever the case may be, this just shows that even if the account is not a reliable one and other users already shared their experience regarding it, people will still have their curiosity.
