Tinder’s new “Are You Sure?” (AYS) feature will make sure that users will never receive an offensive message. Here’s how it works in the platform.
Tinder, one of the most popular online dating platforms, has received a new feature called AYS or “Are You Sure.” This new capability is expected to prevent bad users to send offensive messages to their matches.
As of the moment, Tinder and other dating sites are being used by many people across the globe to find their potential partners. These online services are really helpful since lots of individuals are unable to go out in the public to socialize because of the restrictions implemented by the government agencies.
However, many online applications, including Tinder, can also be a medium for not-so-good people to take advantage of other unsuspecting individuals. Some of them use these platforms to ask for sensitive info, photos, and other personal details just to satisfy their physical touch cravings.
On the other hand, there are also other Tinder users who are too aggressive towards their matches. They even send inappropriate messages to them which can really discourage a lot of users to use the popular application.
To avoid this issue, Tinder decided to use the new AYS feature to detect aggressive users and prevent them from sending offensive content or messages.
How the New AYS Feature Works
The company confirmed that its new feature called AYS is built based on reports from members in the past. Head of Safety and Social Advocacy for Match Group Tracey Breeden said that “words are just as powerful as actions, and today we’re taking an even stronger stand that harassment has no place on Tinder.” He added that “The early results from these features show us that intervention done the right way can be really meaningful in changing behavior and building a community where everyone feels like they can be themselves.”
On the other hand, Scott Berkowitz, the President of the U.S. Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), said that he is excited that Tinder is creating some innovations that will protect its users.
He added that by conveying their expectation for respectful communication, and letting users pause a moment to rethink a message that might offend, the popular dating app is engaging its community to create a safer platform.
Other Innovations of the Dating Platform
Aside from the new AYS, the popular dating app also received another feature called “Vibes.” However, this capability is not actually a feature since it will rely on surveys that will be answered by its users.
With Vibes, the dating app wants to revitalize its platform in a playful way. Users will see a pop-up quiz with a range of unusual questions. Members will receive a notification to let them know when Vibes will be deployed in their location.
Before the new Vibes work, the profiles of the dating app’s users should be an authentic representation of themselves. Aside from this, the giant online service also explained that the new Vibes is specifically designed to help make profiles as dynamic as the members while giving them more to match along the way.
