Walmart has announced recently about its newest app called “Me@Walmart” designed specifically for its associates. Moreover, the company will provide new Samsung Galaxy smartphones to more than 740,000 employees.
This is definitely great news as employees are having much trouble accomplishing certain tasks due to restrictions and safety protocols. Also, with their large number of employees, this is a great way to maximize the use of technology. It also promotes making work faster and more efficient.
“Me@Walmart” App Functions
This new app for the company’s associates functions as an all-in-one app. It is allowing them to perform daily tasks such as clocking in, scheduling, and quick communication. The company claims that it is the first of its kind in the retail industry.
The app allows easier Scheduling wherein employees get to view their shift in two weeks advance. Also, an easier way to talk to other employees is through the use of the “Push-to-Talk” function. They get to help each other answer customers’ needs easily.
AndroidCentral also describes this app as having voice assistance features with the “Ask Sam” function for inquiries and questions about the company. This way, employees get to easily locate merchandise or a specific product, and answer questions of customers.
Not to worry, employees will experience a much better work-life balance as this app will only be used during work hours.

Samsung Phones to All 740,000 Employees
Another way for Walmart to improve on their associate experience is provision of Samsung phones. They are planning to provide employees with Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro, with a case and protection plan which normally costs $499 — free of charge, by the end of the year. This will make sure that the phones are insured for whatever issues to arise in the future.
These phones are considered as an average smartphone, however, it has certain functions needed by Wlmart associates. These include IP68 water and dust resistance and MIL-STD-810G certification, perfect for working situations. Also, it has a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a hole-punch selfie camera, dual cameras at the rear and is powered by an Exynos processor.
This may be a company phone, but employees have privileges of using it for personal purposes without having the fear of privacy issues. The company assures employees that their personal data will be protected.
Where Did It Start?
The company did an initial test by giving new smartphones earlier this year, and they received great feedback. And they are expanding the test to provide employees with the best tools to use to best accomplish their task. Walmart also explains in their site the statement below:
