Legion of the Dead is Watch Dogs Legion’s newest standalone mode, and it is emulating some best parts of the classic horror game Left 4 Dead series.
Horror gamers are fastly emerging in the gaming world nowadays. Among them is the Watch Dogs Legion. It is an action-adventure game with the promise to hop into any NPC’s shoes present in the game. When the game was officially released, it was in its base form. The game developer, Ubisoft, has already planned to constantly provide several updates for Legion of the Dead sometime this Spring and Summer.
In fact, the recent update was released on June 1. The Legion of the Dead standalone version adds more zombies into a dystopian London. Upon seeing the update, fans can observe that it is similar to Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare DLC.
Left 4 Dead Similarities
There is a reason why the new horror game is linked to the classic Left 4 Dead. In Watch Dogs Legion, the gameplay revolves around a player who tries to survive the apocalypse. The survivor will scavenge supplies before leaving and facing the zombies. Similarly, players will rely on their squad to survive the extreme group of zombies like in the Left 4 Dead. To add, the team will consume the supply run as they will be working together in stealing them—their journey in surviving, reliving the cycle of stealing and fighting.
The missions in Watch Dogs Legion of the Dead are similar to Left 4 Dead, with people stuck together in the zombie apocalypse. The missions follow a linear set of goals, and the story ends upon arriving at the evacuation area. Lastly, the lack of a true open world is also emulated.
Four Player Teamwork
Furthermore, the survival squad is composed of four players. Probably the only distinct difference is the inability to select the preferred character. In every supply run, a random survivor with random gear will be featured. The developers thought that it would force them to adapt to different situations, gradually making it more difficult every run.
Because each character has its own characteristics, it adds a new feature that the Valve series will not have. What’s more, there will be power-ups disseminated across the map. There will also be pieces of gear to increase their advantage over the zombies.
It has been so long since fans’ anticipation was granted by the developers. Watch Dogs: Legions of the Dead was hidden from the public to increase the tease and excitement. Ubisoft released a surprise game mode while the fans waited for the next character or tactical op. The game is constantly progressing, providing more exciting features for the players. However, they did not yet confirm its availability on consoles. Until then, you can play Left 4 Dead on your PC and other available gaming devices.
