Since its 2018 announcement, Bethesda hasn’t given much away about its unreleased open-world RPG, The Elder Scrolls VI; get updated with rumors and news on the game’s whens, whats, etc.
Back in 2011, video game publisher Bethesda rocked the gaming community with its release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and since then, fans have been antsy to see what sort of experience the next installment of the RPG would offer. According to GameRant, however, the company remains as vague about The Elder Scrolls VI as its audience is stir-crazy.
Of course, dedicated fans can only tolerate so much silence before they start making do with what little information is present to piece together even clearer details about the project and its well-kept secrets.
While not everything that is “known” about The Elder Scrolls VI is official, here are some speculations and breadcrumbs of somewhat solid information about the highly anticipated RPG.
Is there a set release date yet?
This is likely the most pressing question on fans’ minds right now, but unfortunately, nobody can say when The Elder Scrolls VI is coming out for sure. All that’s certain, thanks to a statement made by Bethesda itself, is that it will not be launched till after the publisher has released Starfield (another RPG that will be taking place in a sci-fi setting).
While such a small piece of information is nonetheless valuable, it isn’t exactly a good enough hint to build from, considering that even Starfield doesn’t yet have a release date of its own. Because of this, it is possible that Bethesda may indeed be taking its sweet time before releasing The Elder Scrolls VI, in fact, it wouldn’t be outrageous to suggest that this launch may take a couple more years (at the very least) to arrive.
Something to look forward to is the Bethesda E3 2021 conference (happening on the 13th of this month at 1:00pm ET) where, hopefully, further details on Starfield will be disclosed, in turn providing The Elder Scrolls fans with better basis for timing estimation.
Is the teaser trailer any help?
As with most teasers, the teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI exists only to spread excitement like wildfire and gain heaps of attention by giving only bits and pieces of the full–but still well concealed–picture.
At present, the YouTube video has garnered a whopping 14 million views (rounded off), which is a telling demonstration that fans will swarm over anything they can get, even if it’s only less than 40 seconds worth of a hint. Fortunately, even this obscure video has helped fans come up with clearer ideas and rumors on what kind of gameplay, setting, locations, and more are waiting to be explored.
A potential several more years is a long ways away, and surely not a fun sit-out for fans who have been eagerly waiting to immerse themselves into The Elder Scrolls VI world for what must feel like far too long already. Still, there is plenty of joy to be found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which can be played on devices such as the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
