League of Legends received a new item that could change how gamers play in the Summoner’s Rift. Here are the major details of Anathema Chains.
League of Legends has released another item that could definitely change how you play in the Summoner’s Rift. The so-called Anathema Chains is expected to reduce tenacity by less than 0%, which could extend crowd control durations.
This item will specifically arrive this coming League of Legends Patch 11.13, which is expected to happen this coming June 23. Aside from Anathema Chains, Riot Games also confirmed that there would also be other items to arrive.
On the other hand, Riot Games explained that the new League of Legends item is specifically for tank heroes since it allows the player to select an enemy champion as their nemesis. Over the course of 60 seconds, you will build a “vendetta” against your nemesis, causing you to take up to 30 percent less damage from them.
However, its second effect is currently concerning a lot of League of Legends players. If you have no idea what is this, here are other details of Anathema Chains.
Anathema Chains’ Second Effect
Some League of Legends players said that the second effect of the new Anathem Chains item could lead to some issues. Why? Because at max stacks, your nemesis will have 20 percent less tenacity when near you as long as you have Anathema Chains in your inventory.
Riot Games‘ Joe “HonestPillows” White has also confirmed that the new item can reduce a nemesis’ tenacity past zero percent, which means that crowd control effects can last even longer. On the other hand, one of the most popular LoL content creators, Vandiril, released a video that shows how the new item works within the Summoner’s Rift.
In the new LoL footage, players can use the item’s active ability to shocking effect. If a tank-like Leona or Ornn has Anathema Chains and has a fully-stacked vendetta against a champion, for example, if that nemesis is hit with a long-range Ashe ultimate, the stun will last for 4.2 seconds instead of the maximum stun duration of 3.5 seconds.
Another interesting effect of this new LoL item is with Morgana, one of the nastiest AP support heroes of the game. Morgana is another intriguing example since normally she’ll root an enemy target with her Dark Binding ability for three seconds. But with the Anathema Chains effect, an enemy with the vendetta would be bound for 3.6 seconds. Players also experimented with the possibility that she could permanently root a target with a combination of the vendetta effect and a collection of different items that increase her ability haste.
This is quite scary since many LoL users would be trapped for almost four seconds, which could allow their enemies to deal enormous damage, freely. Although this build isn’t realistic for regular play on Summoner’s Rift, Morgana can build Liandry’s Torment, Cosmic Drive, Navori Quickblade, Black Cleaver, Wardstone, and Anathema Chains to have her Q ability off cooldown right before the root duration ends.
As of the moment, the item is still on hold since the new LoL Patch 11.13 is not yet released. However, no one knows what will happen to ranked matches and normal games once Anathem Chains arrives in the Summoner’s Rift.
